He entered silently,
as if the air had opened
up space for him to
enter.
The room was dark,
the walls heavy with silence,
and he stepped in.
A sudden flicker, a fire—
not the kind of flicker
that blinds, or burns,
but warms the skin
in the areas forgotten to be cold.
In his presence,
shadows softened,
corners came alive with color,
and I found myself thinking
that I could stay,
as if that light had been
there all along
waiting for me to see it.
