My attempt at poetry, in fact my first one.
A deeply personal, somber, yet hopeful piece about life, hope and home.

The Wave
I do not believe in eternity.
Not the cold kind. Not the static kind.
But I believe in meaning, in purpose, while we are here.
In the flicker.
As the wave.

We come into this world like a ripple in deep water.
Born of the sea, thrown into motion.
We rise, crest, break, and fall.
Not to vanish.
But to return.

Maybe consciousness isn’t meant to last forever.
Maybe it’s meant to learn.
To seek.
To look out into the dark and wonder,
until it finally understands that it was never alone,
only far from home.

We look up, and we see the sky stretch faster than light can follow.
Galaxies fleeing.
Stars turning dim.
A universe expanding beyond touch, beyond travel,
until even our brightest signals
fade into silence.

And still,
we stay.
We listen.
We learn.

Maybe we don’t get to experience everything.
But maybe we were never meant to.
Maybe we were only ever meant to feel it, Imagine it.
To catch one tiny glimpse of it
before the wave pulls us back.

Back to the source.
Back to the stillness that was never empty.
Back to the ocean that remembers every ripple.

If this is how it ends
not with a bang, but with a whimper
then let it be soft.
Let it be kind.
Let the wave, having known both longing and light,
return to the sea
and be one with it again.

Not lost.
Not ended.
Just…home.
