Today I rubbed my eyes
I checked my clock
I made up my bed
I brushed my teeth
I rinsed my face
I turned on my pc
I took my vitamins.
But I forgot to sweep my room
I forgot to organize my books
I forgot to put my clothes in the drawer
I promise to do those things tomorrow.
Meanwhile the sun is rising
with it’s golden hooks in the clouds
the buttercups are blossoming beside the mossy logs
the rooster is crowing and walking about in the yard
the bluebirds are soaring across cerulean skies
clumps of linen caress their blue feathers.
The cloud’s rumpled sleeves slip through the mountains
and then the sun sets for another day—
dipping its golden blades into the dark.
The sun doesn’t forget to rise,
yet we humans forget to do simple tasks.
We can’t let Mother Nature beat us in life—
If the flowers are blossoming, then we should too.
If the birds are flying, then we should too.
I know sometimes life goes on differently—
life doesn’t wait on you like a taxi driver,
so hurry up and catch your ride, and don’t push the brakes.
Do everything you said that you were going to do,
start from point A and end at point Z with a gold medal.
