What if I had worked yesterday,
Or answered with a courteous way,
Taken the path they call so straight,
Toward a future where I'm not innate.
What if I now let go, give in,
To dreams of hope, where youth begins,
Would my heart still beat, sincere and true,
Or would my soul lie empty, too?
What if tomorrow were unlike today,
Would you still feign along the way?
That poster, stuck upon the wall,
Signals a shift, the start of it all.
And if you read these humble lines,
Caught in the stream of fleeting time,
Slow down and take a mindful pause,
To dream awhile on these few prose.
