“My right big toe is hurting
with a tight, throbbing pain.
Alas, I know neither the source
Nor where it could have began.

However, I know one thing
that absolutely is not
the source of my pain:
the dumbbell from my goblet squat.

It sits there atop my foot.
At 40 pounds, it’s light,
too insignificant to possibly be
the source of my plight .

Perhaps it was the cardio
I performed a day before.
Or maybe it could even be
that my diet is simply poor.

But pondering shall get me nowhere,
as my foot still feels a strain.
I shall resume my exercise now
and henceforth cease to complain.”

Baldur was pronounced dead soon after,
and the cause was immediately clear:
his entire body had been crushed
by the dumbbell he held so dear.

Was thinking about weights and was thinking about Norse mythology and had a fun idea.

loll usually poetry like this is kind of goofy and badly written, but you seemed to have taken the time to avoid that. You’ve got rhythm and rhyme, potentially some symbolism, and a message. Good job!
