I liked it. It's a good story and very noir. The prose is solid.

Some of the longer lines could maybe be shortened to make it flow better. I'm grasping at straws here, but maybe it was a bit predictable? It's great how you embody and draw upon an existing aesthetic, but maybe add your own twist some how? Like the women at the end. Since she came out of nowhere I instantly suspected that she was up to no good (unless that last line really was a double entendre). Like, why would the detective be ok with a random stranger in his apartment?

But overall I enjoyed it.

At first I thought it was long, but once I started reading I was like, yeah in going to finish this one.
