From those grassy plains and over those hills,
Where gentle breeze calms the summer blazing,
There I wandered; then I heard the calling
Of flutt'ring petals of the daffodils,
Yet my sight was sickened by those flowers
That o'ertook that hill of four-leafed clovers.

"Dared who," I groaned, "to disdain the clovers
That my b'lovèd have flourished in these hills?"
And I, curs'd by rage, curs'd more the flowers
And swore to see them adust and blazing
To the wind. So, I sighed, "These daffodils
Nevermore shall see the summer calling."

But O, I once more have heard a calling;
Though, 'twas not of th' hill and of the clovers
Nor of those sore, accursed daffodils;
So both my eyes I squinted from those hills,
And from away, though the Sun was blazing,
I saw my love who bloomed like those flowers.

"Dear," she went, "do you despise these flowers?
'Twas I who flourished them," her eyes calling
To my heart greater than the Sun blazing;
And added, "Dear, all those four-leafed clovers
May be your luck of me and of these hills,
But my love for you are these daffodils;"

And soflty told me by the daffodils,
That: "My love for you blooms, like these flowers
Flourishing those plains and these clover hills;
So I pray: hear my daffodils calling—
That you no more need those four-leafed clovers
To feel the luck of my warm love blazing."

O, how blinded I was from my blazing!—
'Twas her love for me that grew daffodils
That lucked my heart out more than the clovers!—
That her love for me didst bloom like flowers,
Fluttering as if her heart is calling
For me from those plains and over those hills.

Soon, when Sun is blazing by the flowers,
Her daffodils shall tell me their calling:
"She is your four-leafed clovers by those hills."
