The Unfulfilling Destination
Why am I judged? I’m just a humble man in my stride.
From lands far away, I cast for this dream so esteemed.
The Bald Eagle! So bold and free, I once keenly eyed.
The Valley of Death I wandered to, and learned it’s not always as it seems.

In the bustling streets of Chicago, my name is utterly slit.
Terrorized by the critics, the bias protrudes through their veins onto me.
The influence of Caesar they have, yet there’s no Brutus in sight.
Free they truly seem, there’s no sight for them to be.

This key, this innate dear key,
For the common man, where could it be?
That I could find this, I cannot foresee.
Although for those who have it, the door of opportunity is guaranteed.

But after all, who am I to talk?
To those up high, I'm an insect, my conscience withdrawn.
The voice is so glamorous for all, but for some just swept by a hawk.
Give me death! My liberty is gone.

I see now, the wealthy will always be the last ones to grin.
Whoosh! And just like that my dream was gone, like a feather in the wind.

Context: This touches upon themes of the American Dream and the illusion of it, and the wealth gap in modern society.
