The celestial imagery of the sun and the moon is corrupted by the theme of love! That is so interesting. The use of metaphorical comparison between the sun and moon, of how they are supposed to be opposites, and how they will never meet. The change of perspective from “I became aware” as though there was a trial and error before acknowledgment and realisation, invokes a sense of pain, and sadness. Yet, “I confront this paradox”, suggests that there is still a goal, a belief that there will be a possibility to defy fate.

The last line “like an unfinished melody, haunting and forever present” suggests and makes one imagine a beautiful instrument playing but coming to an abrupt end, causing all to focus on an issue. This poem serves as a reminder to me, to never give up, even when all odds are against me, even when by nature, we are not allowed to be together. peachcat peachcat

It’s a very realistic poem, the free verse adds to the style of the poetry. It emphasises the essence of doing whatever we like and want to do. It is a beautiful, and powerful poem.
