I’m supposed to be asleep
but I can’t sleep
The birds chirping in unison
The world slowly waking up
As I remain awake.
This is really a habit I should shake
my melatonin? I should probably take
but I like to remain awake
It’s less complicated at night
No the darkness doesn’t affect my sight
my brain works better when the world is asleep, it conjures thoughts ever so deep.
Is it worth it all to barely keep? The thought the day after. Take a lazy leap and give yourself some restful sleep.
