I was a faithful fighter
Though weak in might
I had fought the good fight
To worship you

I gave up everything
Because you were the king
And who would I be without you?

All my friends fled
Fought 'til I was near death
If I'm armored and strong
I'd be good enough

While you're laughing on your throne
Thinking that I was replaceable

I cried

Is this how your most loyal, loving pawn dies?
Is this your 'thank you' for what I have sacrificed?

Left alone in the night
With a wound to my eye?

But I still found my way
To that blessed other side

And now I am the queen
Now I reign supreme
Better give me that crown
I'll see it gleam

I'll look gorgeous in diamond
You won't be reminded
That while I'm a little, quiet queen
I'm also one hell of a tyrant

You act as if I need you
You're so naive, it’s cute
I go where I please
Do what I wanna do

And if that includes bloodshed
I'll paint this whole front red

First order I say
"Off with the king's head!"

Why would I mourn your name?
You saw my devotion as a game

You thought I was replaceable
My mind was pliable
And your grip felt inescapable

Now I am your queen
Only I reign supreme
Better worship this crown
You’ll see it gleam

This is finally
Checkmate
And you cannot
Escape
I’m truly
A cold, merciless tyrant!

Nice piece. The overarching metaphor is weaved effectively, definitely gives the writing a sense of high stakes.
