just like the other workbenches, maybe there could be a way to repair your guns, maybe modify/upgrade them? maybe even have a way to craft very crude and very simple guns? i think at least the repair/modification workbench could be something plausible

There is a way to repair your guns. At the Repair Bench. You need parts. Pistol Parts, Rifle Parts, Shotgun Parts, which you can find in weapon and ammo cases or by dismantling weapons. You can also add mods to them, suppressors, extended grip and red dot sight.

It used to only take iron scrap to repair them but that was recently replaced by the parts mentioned above. The Repair Bench also allows you to repair many other things like clothing, armor, auto parts, tires, etc. All items take some kind of scrap to repair.

Like COG mentioned, you can currently repair weapons but there are also more workbenches planned that might include a weapons workbench, although it's not specified. If you haven't already, check out the roadmap !
