Iron or aluminum depending on what they are made of, and that's a really good idea. But you know what I have most of all? Iron and aluminum. Crates full of it. Early on maybe thats needed but later game you have more than you know what to do with. That in mind, it would be nice to have alternative uses for surplus mats. Like maybe a trader NPC that exchanges things for say, ammo?
Or buildable defenses.. Tetrahedrons, Wire boxes, Concertina Fences(Use materials to fabricate pickets)
I find that Aluminium is excessive, but it is the commonest metal in our society guess, and the Ingotrs get used up oh, so quickly when repairing car parts, like Vehicle Chassis & Gas Tanks.
Iron is definitely useful for defences - that's my main use for it apart from crafting, and the scrap metal pipes are required for repairing broken or workn exhaust systems in vehicles.
I think that as soon as we can make our own basic clothing and reload our own ammunition (this should be ever so simples, if rednecks can do this in their cabins then we need it in game ASAP) then I will be turning off all loot respawns and giving that a go.
Right now, the only respawns I visit are for ammunition at Military sites, and tool locations until I get what I need - okay, until I get what I want!
Traders would seem to be coming according to the roadmap, so that's something great too
If you're server is set to respawn loot you're better off going to David's Auto Parts in Dannemora. All the parts are 100% new. I stock up there all the time. Never had to repair anything I just replace parts.
