#Electrical Box Connections UI changes, partly to fix a dangerous bug.

Those proposed changes are actually minimal, they mostly expose world item properties that already exist. The list is sorted with most important changes on top.

All electrical boxes need to be able to revert to their default configuration regarding connected power sources that existed at the new game start. The data exists, it just needs to be copied into each electrical box, so the game would not have to parse through the entire new game template to find it. To do so, all electrical boxes need a "Restore Defaults" button next to the "Unwire" button on the Sources section of their Connections window. This button first disconnects all sources, and then adds all default sources, while checking that those still exist and are not destroyed somehow.

All electrical boxes need the Connections menu made visible. Those that currently do not have one, need that menu item retroactively added with some future patch.

The Connection menu needs another column added to both source and destination tables: a small switch button that can switch the connection on/off without actually destroying it. Some connections are difficult to manipulate because their world objects are hard to reach.

Please, let us craft small flat electrical boxes, like some buildings have. Those boxes should be attachable to the walls, and have both quick on/off menu item, and Connections item in their menu. The purpose is to control groups of power connections, for example to switch on/off some of base's external lights. To prevent the "power creep", the box must be placed within UC's control area.

The Makeshift Battery should have quick on/off button at the top of the menu. It temporarily switches all it's destination connections on/off, while the battery can still recharge from it's power source connections.

From what I read it sounds more like a bug to be reported in #1150480689867792545 than as a suggestion. I mean it's like mixed but more a bug report if getting issues than getting anything else out of it by how it sounds. Still can post it here & there to be sure.

There is an UI bug - not happened to me because I'm a cunning lynx, but other players accidently disconnected the mains power, and cannot reconnect it, because the source box is either hidden somewhere or totally virtual.

Well if it's a UI bug or possible that players have disconnected it ... then it's more or less likely option two of your thoughts there. Simple to disconnect all then another comes along & learns it's all kaput.

Reason for that is cause its connected to a junction box more likely & then the junction box is connected to the substation in the town & finally that sub station is connected to the main power station. Too far away more or less to reconnect them since all is kaput so best to just make a make shift battery & some solar panels then have your power to where base or whatnot is at

Source junction box is often also out of range

It's not a real bug, it's a feature that allows player to make an unrecoverable mistake in one click. The solution is to just add "Restore defaults" button - so players can revert changes. I just relayed what other players posted on Steam, it not happened to me, my base do not even have a power box with configurable connections.
