If reading the book only boosts your skill gain for 30 min... shouldn't the book remain in your inventory instead of being consumed? Seems a bit odd to read then forget things and never be able to revisit them again.

The skill book could simply turn into a regular book after it has been read rather than disappearing.

unless you are on a server with limited loot, or have loot respawn off, you could drown in these boost books. If you go to the book spawn locations daily you could fill up a box pretty soon.
