Hello!

This idea is broken up into 3 posts as it is rather long.

I’ve been putting some time in this game! So my idea has a few pre-requisites.

I know y’all are eventually going to do living ai for both Pve enemies and quest givers. I’m hoping that the ai behavior will be more advanced than just people running around and then begin attacking you if you get close if they are raiders/bandits. Or they just stand around in one spot all day and night to give you a quest. I’m hoping for a true simulated day and night schedule for certain npc’s. That being said depending on how advanced you plan on creating the ai will determine if this suggestion will be possible.

So here it goes, you already have a slider for how far into the apocalypse power begins to fail. I would love a slider that acts as a countdown to the fall. This slider could have the event take place within in game hours, in game days, or even in game months. This gives players the option to set how many days they want to play before the zombies come. During this time most cars would be at 100% condition or close to it, the AI would be normal people who are just going about their day. Store merchants would hang out at the registers, nurses would be going around to hospital rooms to tend to patients. Items scattered around the world would be grabbable but if you leave the area/store they would be marked as stolen and the cops would come and arrest you.

Speaking of the AI...this is the age of Large Language Models. Dialogue could be more fluid and interactive using API calls to a free Gemini model. Of course there would have to be a fallback mechanism for failed calls. Prompting could be setup with personality traits and roles for different people in the towns.
