I know maybe it removes an aspect of the draft, but there’s certain factions I really wanna try out and I don’t know if anyone else feels the same or if there can be an aspect to that with the draft? Like in narrowing down available things to draft if nothing else?

Odd question: would this be only DS factions or both normal and DS factions?

This would be my first game with DS and it might be fun to play a normal faction while learning about DS through other people's factions if that makes sense.

the original intention is to have DS factions only, but if we go with the everyone has 2 pick which goes into the set of 8, than I think we can open it up, but it's not guaranteed to have them

I haven’t played a mixed game tbh. I’ve only played official with official and DS with DS

But they’re designed to work together. I think the commonly held notion is that the best DS factions are a to A to B tier while there are definitely some official factions in SS and S tier. But we can always ban those (Yssaril comes to mind)

OK so TIGL (Twilight Imperium Game League) has 2 formats. Standard is very standardized - 6 player, 10-14 points, offical stuff only. Not Twilights Fall. Fractured is everything else: Twilights Fall, any homebrew you want, 3/4/5/7/8 player, Franken, etc

Milty/Nucleus are fine in both. Even Standard often includes some faction bans
