Not a big issue, with plenty of workarounds but scenario came up where I wanted to roll a subset of my total elligible units' space cannon abilities. Appears "Roll Space Cannon Offense" autmatically rolled all. I anticipated this possibility so pre declared what to ignore, but yeah could be nice option "Roll Partial Space Cannon Offense", could also just produce confusion, so fine to decline request as well :). You cannot roll only some of your space cannon units

You don't need to use plasma scoring or argent commander if you have them, which may be what you're thinking of

Hmm thinks wording seems a little ambiguous and multiple AIs (not that they're definitive) seem to suggest choice is for each unit but no worries. Scenario was wanting to fire Xxcha mech but not flagship to protect the opportunity to score unveil flagship while still softening their forces.
