would be a milty draft with 7 available factions and 7 slices to pick from.
Milty draft is snake draft order pick from faction/starting slice/speaker order R1
then map will be setup based on draft

slices seem more or less balanced, factions somebody will get stuck with either arbo or sardakk, but probably gets speaker and 'best' slice if everybody picks faction first - so seems fine

yeah probably best two factions of the draft - and sorry I took NRA. Never played them either and always wanted to
actually Naalu is also top tier with the Zeu agent

Just so you know, this is my third game Twilight Imperium overall ... played once on TTS a year ago with 3, 1 in person last week with a total of 5 and now this, so don't expect me to know what i am doing 😅

Yea don't worry. We've all been there.
Async is a great way for newer players to get more familiar with the game. You have (almost) all the time in the world to check out each faction's abilities and ponder about all their possible interactions at the table
