Got a planet and the alpha asteroid field as equidistants, and an expansion path to mecatol, don’t think Saar could ask for more

Yeah corneeqs big risk of a grav rift next to home is meaningless to me, so it’s just straight upside

and you have the alpha asteroid which will be a real pain for keleres

Keleres with grav drive available to start but no equidistants is tough

they can jump on abyz fria but idk if that does them much good

they prob start with grav drive + antimass and grab early carrier 2

I also like first picking Saar cause bad speaker order doesn’t matter as much, I am perfectly happy taking warfare or construction

saar is just good in any slice

because if your slice isn’t good you eat a neighbor

im probably overvaluing it but i feel like the red planets are better than the others because early game explores are gonna be strong

they got attachments + money + ccs + frags

They are gonna be strong, but dangerous if you lose to many inf

yeah yeah but nomad is good at solving that issue

i got my agent which lets me move around inf easily

and i got decent production capacity

and i like getting my mechs out as nomad

scanlink is quite good for me

i think keleres is gonna have a hard time

they got a pretty bad slice next to saar whose gonna be putting constant pressure through the alpha asteroid

yeah I think Space had a really good draft

I think my mistake was taking 3rd over the slice Saar is currently in

grav drive start works a lot better there

yeah not only do I think in the abstract my slice is the worst of the 6, but it’s especially bad for keleres with all of the comms from industrial explores getting wasted

I like Xxcha in the primor slice a lot. ideally you get to peace accords it and send the carrier elsewhere

if I had to crown a winner overall I’d give it to Saar

Nomad slice combo is also solid

I agree with max that the hazardous slices seem good

but particularly that one that they’re in

I agree Saar definitely won

I'm happy with my slice as L1 with speaker though. A little concerned about the influence, but that's what neighbors are for 😋

Was thinking the play might be to go for round 1 Inheritance Systems off of a hopeful Xxcha Diplo

But now that I'm off that high DET + grav drive is probably the move

Then Super Dread 2 by round 2! 🤓

I would have preferred to not have first pick in this draft. My initial thoughts were as follows:

Position: I admittedly undervalue speaker, but I don't think it's worth first pick
Factions: Everything but Creuss is solid (I like playing them, but I think they are a lower tier)
Slices:
1 - pretty good, but with first pick I'm too risk adverse to accept a rift next to HS
2 - industrial is meh, not excited about asteroids with saar in play and not knowing what faction I'll get
3 - fine, but not as good as others
4 - I like cultural best personally, 2 tech and 1 legendary is decent for objectives but slightly low on influence and reliant on qeui
5 - I think this slice is gross!
6 - Would be my second choice, but I worry about losing too many infantry to explores and without knowing my faction I'm unsure how much that hurts my expansion so I consider it high risk / high reward, but I tend to be risk adverse

I think it all depends on the factions and what you're comfortable with. Being 5th pick, the best slices were gone by the time it got to me, and at the end I'm going to be left with whatever's left, so I planned on being L1 and took speaker first, which I think L1 desperately needs. Then took the best slice that was left after that. (@flint frigate took the other slice I was looking at.) Then just wait for L1 to be dumped on me

And with that Jeol Ir slice, it's way too dangerous to not pick a slice

So it was basically a choice between good-ish faction with bad speaker order vs. L1 with speaker for me

I was thinking the jeol slice was an acceptable worst case for me, cause I actually do want the alpha asteroid

But getting corneeq with jeol next to me was better!

So ignoring Saar, why do you all hate jeol

it’s only got 4 planets, it’s industrial which isn’t great because almost no attachments, and it’s got en empty next to mecatol

it’s also got like no mobility since you need antimass to utilize the wormhole

and it’s got like no resources

idk it just seems like a very bad slice to me for a lot of objectives

also only 1 tech skip and it’s hard to find others
