Want to try out an async alliance game. I already have a partner I want to play with but if you dont have one we can pair up two solo players to make a team. Im thinking no whispers except for with your alliance partner. Alliances seat across the table from each other so we will draft only speaker order 1-4. Then your alliance partner gets the corresponding seat across the table from you. Ideally everyone should discuss their next turn so that if you arent online when your turn comes up, your alliance partner can take your turn for you to keep the game moving.

So if it's my turn, and I land both my troops & my Allies' on a planet, and we win the ensuing ground combat, I have to take control of the planet, even tho my Allies' troops also participated?

I think we can probably agree to a method of arbitration beforehand as well - we usually play with leniency on go-backs as long as dice havent been rolled/cards haven't been drawn

so if we do something like "hey ti4rules.com is our go-to, if something is undefined then we settle by voting/flipping a coin and making that the standard" im open to it

Here's some pretty arbitrary answers to Baldrick's questions based on my quite unpolished TI intuition:
Who can gain control of a planet?
either ally, regardless of whether they spent a CC, as long as they have ground forces at the end of combat

Can you have more than one space dock (and/or more than 2 PDS) on a planet?
No, the limit is per planet

Can you score objectives that care about being in/adjacent to another player's home system (threaten enemies, etc.) on your ally?
No (rules as intended)

Can you retreat into a system that contains your ally's units but none of your own?
Yes

If one player retreats and brings some of their ally's units with them, do both players have to place a token in the system?
Yes

Also just important to understand:

your ally's planets count as your planets for most abilities but you can't use them to score and you can't exhaust them (i.e. you can count their tech skips as yours if you have pyschoarch, you put infantry on them for rise of the messiah, etc.)
your ally counts as 'another player' in most instances
your ally's units count as neither your units nor as 'another player's' units

The thing where your ally's planets count as your own in most cases causes...a lot of wacky effects

If you're doing the sit across the table from your ally thing, I liked drafting speaker 1-8 and then 1-5, 2-6, etc are teammates. If people want to intentionally team with someone they can prioritize that in the draft

what we did before was actually draft as a team. so you together draft speaker order 1-4, 2 factions, and 2 slices. Youre then assigned speaker order 5-8 based on your drafted order. then after the draft, you decide who gets which piece

That makes sense to me as a draft method. Solves the problem where one team might be on other ends of the draft and thus no ability to cooperate in what’s chosen.
