I wrote a long post about how I love mega games and how it's a semi-tradition on this server to have massive games in round pbd numbers that end up creating new feeatures for the bot (pbd10 was an alliance that was the reason the bot got expanded to accomodate 8p games!). I lost that post to a discord mishap, including all the rules that I had to rewrite (this time in a google doc daa) and so I'm too tired to tell the whole story. I'll just say that I started thinking about this game when pbd499 was started but it needed a lot of extra tiles to start, and then it got delayed for a great many other reasons... but special thanks to @fluid oriole @peak cipher @cosmic nymph who made this game possible, and all the other developers for their work.

So... want to join a wacky 24 player game? this one is for you. You can see the full ruleset in the google doc but for now you should know that:

  1. as a massive 24 player game, this will be a slow lumbering experience that'll take a long time. It requires patience and endurance to get through and if you're joining the game you're taking on a friendly commitment to see it through, because even after you're out of the running, you'll have a part to play. Please please please don't join if you're not sure you'll be doing Async Ti4 in eight months time. Please don't join if you frequently can't take actions for multiple days in a row.
  2. This game uses an experimental ruleset that I didn't, and can't, really fully polish or playtest. so though this is going to be an intense and crazy competition between 24 faction you should remember that this game isn't going to be air-tight in terms of rules and as GM I will have to make all sorts of rulings, sometimes for the expediency of the game that may changes rules on the fly. Please treat this game as if the server is throwing a party - a celebration of the game we all are obsessed with and especially the community we've formed.

If there are 12 extra people, we could just play the exact same game, on a separate map with only 2 galaxies. The second half of the game would be different, but that's the part I didn't understand, and there would still be the same ratio of players to vassals.

Or the rules change to only the winner of each galaxy moves on to the next phase, and then 4 new people get added in for the 8-player part like in a reality show where new contestants get added halfway through the game. Or something

Ironically, I found in pbd100 that teams make the game faster mostly when both/all team members are individually fast players

This seems like a huge difference to me. A big part of the point is that the landscape of the game is frozen at a particular moment. It could in theory be another thing you can calculate - follow the other map and see where it ends up etc but I feel like there’s enough going on, and it’ll end up being a super random event. Either way, it’ll slow everything the heck down in a way I’m not looking forward to. You can start it though, if you want.
