#A new (but maybe fun?) kind of hell

Looking to try and play a "normal" 6p game of TI, with one twist, everyone is the Vuil'Raith Cabal!!
I'm thinking that we'd do a mostly normal Milty draft, but the faction you choose now only dictates your starting setup (HS, starting units, promissory note, commodity value (maybe), and starting technology), and all of the faction abilities, leaders, and unique technologies are replaced with that of the Cabal.

The goal here is CHAOS. I'm hoping that it turns into a game of attrition where captured units become the primary currency as people run out of non-captured units to build... but part of the fun will be seeing where it goes!

Additionally, in order to smooth things out a bit, a few rule changes might have to be made.

  1. The cabal hero only applies to the active player's spacedocks.
  2. Flagship and Mech now also prevent your opponent from capturing your units in combat (this is to prevent both players from trying to capture the same unit).
  3. Captured units can be traded as part of a transaction to any player.
  4. (optional) After you win a space combat you can retrieve one of your captured units from the losing player.

Obviously this might be a little touch and go, and we may have to make up rulings on the spot, but again, this isn't a serious game. ('do it for the meme' or 'just for fun' plays are more than welcome 😉)
Also I must warn that the chances of a slugfest are VERY high so only join if you're willing to play through to the end.

All that said, I've never done anything like this before and have no idea if something like this would interest anyone else, but please sign up if it does!

North American time zones are preferred but it is definitely NOT a deal breaker. Everyone is welcome!

Not joining, just a disclaimer that this isn't exactly supported in the bot. A few things off the dome that you'll want to keep in mind/think about:

  1. Cabal jails

these are usually placed in the corners of the map, but there's only 4 corners and we still need Mallice, and maybe creuss. You'll probably need to set it up as an 8 player game so you have the 2 extra rings to place extra jails

  1. Player setup

Bot doesn't support multiple players with the same faction, so you will need to set up as something else and remember that your leaders are cabal, and your promissory note is crucible

  1. More of a question

What about the other faction specific things? Commodity value? Promissory note?

I admire your vision and wish you great luck on your quest!

Love it. Thought about this earlier this week too. I wonder if replacing all anomalies with gravity rifts would be even more good fun. 😋😋😋 With the bot not quite able to support ya might have to do this in TTSimulator or TTPlayground

We can discuss what the draft should be

Im against the Grav rift thing though

i would also be interested in joining, however doesnt cabal gravity rift immunity only work on their own rifts?

i’m very much not American time zones tho… although i tend to take two turns in each of my games per day unless my timetable gets super busy

Also some solutions

  1. Place cabal jails behind homes, this would add the room needed and make clear who’s jail’s who.
  2. Set up as other factions and change home systems to be right.

Bot can definitely not handle 6 copies of acheron

Yup, the plan is to use other factions HS's and implement choosing which ones into the draft since some are better than others

Not joining, but I want to suggest something regarding the mech/flagship modifications. Instead of giving them the power to block other captures, if you want captured units to become more of a currency, perhaps one or both of these options would be better:

"When two players would each capture the same unit, the active player may decide which player captures the unit."
I think this would encourage aggression with the flagship/mechs rather than hunkering down.

"When two players would each capture the same fighter or infantry, they both capture that unit." (if both rules are used, this rule would override the above rule, of course)
Probably a little more chaotic, and possibly not a good idea as it essentially allows duplication of fighters and infantry, but hey, it's an option for maximum chaos.
