Welcome to Star Path 101! You may be wondering how it works and why you can’t get that pesky last page to unlock. This guide will walk you through the process of the what/why/where/how of it all!
**What exactly is a Star Path? **Well, they’re similar to the battlepass system that you see in other games. You do specific dreamlight duties and earn tokens. You can then spend those tokens to unlock motifs, clothing, furniture, outfits for your villagers, and moonstones. Tokens do not carry over from path to path - they are a use it or lose it currency.
**How many tiers are there? **Technically three. see image #1
- Default “free” path: Gives you three duties at a time, although you will still have the same number of duties ultimately, and you can only unlock the items that do not say “premium”.
- The “premium” path: This costs 2,500 moonstones and gives you six duties at a time. Same number of duties as free, but you can unlock all the rewards.
- The “premium+” path: This one costs 3,300 moonstones. It is the same as the premium path, but you start off with extra tokens, which allows you to get a head start on buying the unlocks. At the end you will buy the last page 10 times, earning you back the extra 800 stones that you spent.
Path Math There is NO difference in Premium and Premium+. It does not matter which one you buy.
- Premium is 2,500 stones Buy 100 tokens for 800 stones
- Premium+ is 3,300 stones Get 100 tokens, costs 800 stones more than standard, meaning token cost is the same.
- All path moonstone rewards add up to 2,900. Including all 11 turn-ins on the final page.
- Final path cost = 400 (If you buy Premium for 2,500 and do NOT buy the token bundle, final path cost = 500)
How do I unlock the last page? The last page can only be unlocked once you have purchased everything on the previous pages. If you reach the end and it’s still locked, you missed something. Go back through the pages very carefully and make sure everything has been purchased. Once it has, the last page will unlock. If you chose the regular premium path, you can buy the moonstones once. If you chose premium+, you can buy it 10 times to get your moonstones back.
How do I purchase tokens? At any point after purchasing a premium path you can buy tokens to speed your way through the event. If you did not purchase the Premium+ Tier, you can get the same discount on your first 100 tokens - tokens must be purchased all at once to get the discount. see images #2 & #3 After that it is no longer profitable to purchase tokens as they become 100 tokens/ 1000 moonstones and can only be exchanged at 10 tokens/ 90 moonstones.
But isn't that unintended gameplay? Gameloft has given us direct confirmation that this is an intended use of the moonstones/tokens. It is intended to give us a way to use any remaining tokens so we get some moonstones back after we've purchased everything.
**But what if I miss part of the path? **Good news! GameLoft changed its stance as of update 9 and items will be randomly appearing in the premium shop to be purchased for moonstones. It is unknown how often, or what items, so you’ll just have to watch the shop each week and see what shows up!
