So you have the update and you want to participate in DreamSnaps but you’re having some trouble understanding how it works? Never fear, we are here to help! Below you will find some information that should assist you. If you have questions after you read over this guide thoroughly, please go to #dreamlight-help and they’ll be more than happy to assist. Let’s get started!
In order to have access to the DreamSnaps, you must first unlock Vanellope. To unlock her, you must have Merlin’s level 5 quest completed, and then go talk to Scrooge. Follow his quest for the Dream Castle and she will walk you through the initial how-to of the DreamSnaps. Once you finish her quest, you’ll see a new event in your Event Tab. (See Image 1) That will give you the theme for the current challenge. You can opt out at any time if you decide that this just isn’t for you (See Image 2)
But how do you know what you have that counts for the theme? GameLoft very helpfully gave us a new filter (See Image 3) that you can turn on in both furniture and clothing inventories. It will filter items down to what the tags are for the challenge.If you have some items but need more of an item (for example, you have a coin-op machine but want two), you can go to Scrooge’s and order more, up to 25 items, from his catalog. Make sure that you have no custom (touch of magic) items anywhere on your person or in the room, even if you can’t see them (like a tank top under another shirt), or else it won’t let you submit the picture for DreamSnaps.
Once you get your room set up, take the picture, and then you can press the button (see Images 4, 5, and 6) that will show you how many required items you need and how many you have, so that you can keep track. It will only show up after you take the picture. If you have not taken it, the option will not be there People will be voting on your spaces, so make ‘em the best that you can with what you have! If you want to review what you submitted, you can do that at any time (see Image 7)
Voting: Every Wednesday at <t:1689771600:t>, the challenge will reset with a new theme. At the same time, voting will open for the previous challenge, as all entries will now be available (see Image 8). You get moonstones for participating (300 stones), for voting (up to 50, although you can vote without reward too!), and for your placement on the leaderboard. There is no public leaderboard, you’ll just get notified in your mailbox.
To give you an example of how the flow for submit/vote/reward goes:
Today (July 19) - DreamSnaps launches + challenge 1 kicks off
Wednesday. July 26 - DreamSnaps challenge 2 kicks off + voting for challenge 1 begins
Wednesday, August 2 - DreamSnaps challenge 3 kicks off + voting for challenge 2 begins + rewards arrive for challenge 1
