Hide and Seek (Tricky Places Items Can Spawn)

Can't find that last thing you need for a quest, duty, or special event? Items in DDLV are sometimes shy and have found many clever hiding places where they can lurk undetected! This guide aims to expose their secret hideouts so you can get back to being the ruler that Dreamlight Valley deserves.

Note: Please refrain from using this thread for chatter, as it can lead to valuable information becoming lost. If you would like to add a new hiding place, we ask that you please provide a detailed explanation of where it is along with a picture of the map location as well as an in-game photo.

General/Non-Clipping

Items can spawn in the smokey area around un-cleared pillars. You can just barely make out the oyster here, but things can also spawn in the even thicker smoke closer to the pillar where it's 99.9% invisible. Walk around the pillar and keep an eye out for the "Pick up" action text.

Forgotten Lands/Clipping
The Pumpkin House Rock

There is a rock behind the pumpkin house in the Forgotten Lands biome that can be walked completely through. Items will spawn back there, and this is the biggest offender for "missing" items.

Two common workarounds are to either use furniture mode to put something you don't care about back there to prevent spawning, or just make "checking that dang rock" part of your biome routine

The Tall Pond Rocks

There are rocks in Forgotten Lands, one tall rock each at either pond, that are also notorious for swallowing items whole. The rocks can't be walked through, so items there cannot be easily retrieved.

Some users have been able to retrieve some stuck items by doing things like digging nearby, which makes their character move in a way that bumps into the item; however, many users have been unable to retrieve these items at all

Dazzle Beach/Clipping
The Bridge Rocks

A stretch of wall just above the eastern side of the bridge on Dazzle Beach.

Frosted Heights/Clipping

A stretch of rocks on the northwestern wall - from the rock jutting out to the left of the leftmost pictured mining node to the rightmost pictured node.

Corner Rock

A section of rock on the bank, enough bad clipping to hide or obfuscate smaller items

A stretch of rock on the western side of the southern rock bridge. bad clipping extends along much of that southern stretch.

The Dang Ferns

a large fern on just north of the southern rock bridge, on the western bank. not technically a clipping issue, but a sneaky spot where items hide, and the fern cannot be removed in furniture mode.

This rock can't be walked through, but items may spawn there, including eggies (pictured) and flowers. users have reported being able to pick up these items.

Sunlit Plateau/Non-Clipping
Behind the Pillar/Oasis

Items can spawn into the space behind the original pillar/oasis location. to retrieve the item, use furniture mode to temporarily move the pillar.
note: you can place a small rock/object back there which should prevent anything else from spawning there

A rock on the eastern side of the rock bridge, the perfect size for eating your eggies and other small objects.

Quest Specific/Other

Are you looking for 25 of something outdoors, and can't seem to find the last of them?

If you didn't find it hiding in any of the above spots, don't forget to also:

||Un-track all quests & save/re-open your game||

|| Check around the green fires in the Forgotten Lands - the green and sparkles blends perfectly with the flames ||

|| You may have to move furniture, trees, and buildings. If you do, make sure to exit furniture mode with the item moved/removed as if they ARE there, they may not become visible in Furniture mode

Quest Specific/Other

Are you looking for 15 of something indoors, and can't seem to find the last of them?

||As with the other segment looking for aliens, un-track all quests and save/reopen your game for a fresh start||

||Many users are reporting that their last little buddy is stuck in the closet of Buzz's RV. to check if you're in the same boat, stand near the closet and rotate your camera to "see through" the closet wall.

it may also similarly be under Buzz's bed. just, like, anywhere under his furniture that you can't get to. peep it all!

you may also be able to hear them - use your settings to turn the music down, and turn your sound all the way up.

if it's there, you may be able to pick it up by standing nearby with your pickaxe and spamming the action button - it won't let you actually mine for them (rude) but it may let your character get close enough to get the Pick up activity. you may have to try from a few different angles. good luck! if it doesn't work, I'm so sorry, but the issue has been flagged to GL. we don't yet know when it will be fixed, but if/when it is, it will most likely be part of an update/patch/hotfix, so you'll know when it happens ||

||while most users have reported these alien visitors appearing in the same houses (Buzz, Donald, Remy, Goofy, Mickey, Woody, Merlin, and Anna) with 8 on one day and 7 another (the same original set minus one), some users have reported them appearing in other houses, so you may need to expand your search||

Another 'stuck' location I found while being stuck on 14/15 for like a week:
||Inside of Merlin's house, inside the potion cabinet, an alien can be hidden. It can be tricky to collect it, but it is possible. Stand in front of the cabinet, tilt your camera up, so you are looking down at the ground.

If you are trying to find the ||dolls for Jack Skellington||, these areas may be worth checking, but I have not had a chance to review old locations for clip fixes or report any new ones. I will update when I am able.

After collecting ||all 4 doll, head up to Forgotten Land, find that odd looking tree that you have not notice previously. Add the doll 1 at the time, again and again and he shall appear. You may or may not notice there is a pumpkin face on the tree, sole standing alone tree.||

I haven't actually found anything hidden in here yet because spawns are busted, but I'm putting it in here because I expect it to be troublesome at some point. The bush is part of the wall and cannot be removed.
