I would like to add that I experienced a close out on the game while taking a picture for a quest. The whole screen was just filled with words and then the game closed ): this was on switch as well

I have a Glitch when I'm moving stuff (Woody's house included) between biomes and want to save by returning into game mode... I have to close manually the game... Seconde time in a row, I'm going to try a 3rd time

Critters issue; i can feed critters as much as i want, nothing happens... they like it, give me a heart and still ask to be fed.

Non are turning in the collection AND the feeding itself is not registered with the collection for example; "feeding the ravens", i only need one to complete it, it stands on 89.

Same here I have not been able to take pictures period since the Scar update I have to avoid the photo taking or it just crashes and shuts down. It did it in bonnies room and I'm not even gonna bother with trying again.

Try one more time but change the image format. It has worked for me and i was able to complete it. If it’s in a wider shot it has worked. Hopefully it’ll work for you too.

How the crash occurred: The game crashed after taking a picture in front of Elsa's ice cavern. It was in portrait mode when this happened. After changing the image format, I did not have my game crash.

Getting stuck in doorways inside houses. Second time resulted in a crash and “the software was closed do to unexpected error” message.
First time I was stuck inside the doorway in Merlin’s house while hanging out with walle

Both times I got the prompt to press A to exit but there was no response from pressing any buttons. First time I closed the game, second time it crashed as I was trying to close the game. Both times it seems like the character I am hanging out with is in the way of me exiting, but it might not be related.

Game froze during the Wall-E quest after I built the telescope and was prompted to take a photo. Closed the game and re-opened and I’m just stuck posing with the members of the astrology club and cannot do anything other than open menus. I’d I teleport I just get stuck to where I teleported. Game is completely unplayable until this is fixed 😥

Didn’t exactly crash but I entered Minnie’s house and could not move forward or exit. My character just kept walking in place. I had to exit the game.

It’s not really a crash, but it locks my game and I can’t do anything besides closing and opening it again.

Sometimes I open the map and it looks like this 👇 I can’t change tabs, I can’t exit the pause menu, I can’t fast travel. It happened to me 4x today and it never happened before this update.

I can half reproduce this issue: sometimes I open the map and it works as intended besides the fact I can exit it pressing B, only pressing + or -. Whenever that happens, I can guarantee the next time I open the map, the problem above will occur.

Issue: Anytime I try to exit furniture mode (even if I'm only on it for less than a minute) the game freezes and I have to manually close it. I have restarted and tried again about 4 times and still does the same thing.

I keep trying to move a house from the beach to the glade, which is something a fried of mine on Xbox did. Every time I try, the game completely freezes when I try to go back to play mode from decorating mode. It happened again today and I had to manually close.

The gingerbread Mickey motif is showing up in my inventory, but it is not saying I bought it in the catalog. When I try to repurchase it, a pop up appears saying “already purchased” which makes me nervous I won’t be able to complete the star path and get my 900 bonus moonstones at the end…

How the crash occurred: After welcoming Buzz Lightyear to the valley and taking a picture with him, the framerate dropped to like 1-3 FPS and got suuuuuper laggy. When I attempted to open up the menu to save and restart, the game crashed.

Had a similar issue taking a picture with Minnie, Woody, and Anna in my house in front of the club banner but it didn't crash; just got laggy after taking the picture.

When not using the camera and just playing the game normally, performance on the Switch is actually excellent with very little lag at all anywhere, so good work with that! One crash instead of 6 or 7 in a play session is a vast improvement!

My character is stuck in a walking animation trying to go to another room of my house. It still says Enter on my screen, i was trying to go from one room of my house to the main room. Not sure if this matters, but I've got Buzz with me as a companion. It's not technically a crash but I'm going to have to force close my game. I've left it for a few minutes and my character is still just walking in the door frame. None of the buttons respond, i can't open the menu.

Sometimes, when I go to take a picture I get this mess after the picture is taken. And when I go to exit the camera, the game then crashes. And it happened as part of the new WALL·E quest, and now when I go back in I'm now stuck with them trying to take the picture but my controls don't work in game. So I can't continue playing. Second screenshot shows them posed for a picture, but we're not in the camera screen. That's how I entered the game after it crashed, so not back by my house.

My character is stuck in a walking animation again trying to go through the same door in my house. Last time it was with Buzz, this time it's with Woody. I was able to record the beginning of the glitch this time. I think Woody is blocking my character from being able to walk through the door. I was decorating and then tried to go to my main room. This is the second time that I've been trapped trying to go through the door in my house, it's not technically a crash but I'll have to force close the game so it's basically the same thing.

I was completing the Quest and taking the picture when the game crashed. I went back in and my game has come to a complete stop. While completing the Launch the Star Command Academy Grand Opening I was taking the picture and my game shut down. I then reopened and I am stuck in the same spot I can see the menu and fast travel but I cannot move or stop using my phone. I've tried to restart my switch gave it a few hours trying it again this morning and still stuck. Idk what to do

I’m still having lots of lag and crashing for the Switch even after the newest update. The crashing mostly happens when I’m going through my storage chests going from one to the other. It will pop up saying “the software was closed because an error occurred”. Seems to be an issue with most. The lag is mostly running around outside and in the menus as well along with going through all storage chests.

Yes same here, it’s definitely the running that’s lagging for me too. I don’t even have my valley maxed out on decorations. I didn’t take a picture since I’m not sure how to really do that when it comes to the lag. The error I get when it crashes is the same as what most have been posting in here haha

Issue: Extremely lagging... when i walk, it needs sometimes between 2 and 5 seconds too load the whole area, bushes, trees, etc.

Any time I try to move things around with the furniture move tool and then get out of the tool it freezes. If I try to move anything at all the screen will freeze, I can still open and close the furniture menu, but I can’t move anything. The only way fo get out of it is to close out of the game and then I get a pop up saying the game closed due to an error.

Had no crashes on Dec 6 or 7 playing often. I’ve had three crashes and two freezes (one of which forced me to quit and initiated a crash) since this morning’s patch. No theme to them like there used to be, they’re just random now.

In case it is of use... I seem to have found that (as much as I can without the appropriate logging & analysis tooling of course) that on switch moving the game from an SD card memory to the main memory made a significant difference to loading speed and possibly has played a part in slowing down the errors. I've run it side by side on my nieces switch with similar config and games and there does seem to be a difference when one is on an SD Card and one is running from main memory which then improves almost instantly after a force stopping of the game and restart of the console.. however I will stress it has not stopped the "software had to close* error from occuring entirely and of course I can't rule out any coincidence that the change was not at least in part due to the new patch.

On Switch: Encountered the oft-reported issue where the game crashed while trying to take a photo (this one for the Astronomy Club quest), and now the game doesn't load properly--it should be loading in photo mode, but it isn't, and it's loading in normal game mode but with my character unable to move or take any actions other than load the menu screen (and take actions there). I can't even get the camera back out.

Included here is a 30-second video from my Switch that includes the sound effects that are audible before the game fully loads, as well as a brief glimpse of the screen I should be seeing, before it goes into its in-between stuck mode.

For reproducing the crash during the photo: Recommend fiddling with the in-game camera settings and trying to take the photo multiple times.

OK, so the Return to Title Screen eventually did the trick (when prompted regarding cloud save, I said Quit Anyway). Every time before, I'd force-quit the game from the console and restarted it. This was the first time I actually did Return to Title.

(Also, it's unfortunate that the game has crashed only twice for me since the update, and the second time it caused that. It's a lot more stable for me now than it was during the Scar update, at least so far.)

My game does still crash (I am on the Switch), but it is less often, and I can usually avoid it from happening or tell when it is about to happen.

To avoid my game crashing: I ALWAYS completely close the game when I am not playing (not just put the switch to sleep). I also save often after doing a semi-big task (such as gardening, replanting, and watering). When in furniture mode and decorating my village, I do small areas at a time then leave the furniture mode and save again. This has really helped on the amount of crashes I get.

When I can tell my game is about to crash: Usually when it freezes during any of the actions mentioned above if done for too long without a "break" for it to catch up. My game almost always freezes when I go into any storage chest, but if the music still plays, I know it is not crashing, just loading.

It is much better since the update, and much easier to avoid. Just seems like when the game tries to autosave when you are doing a bigger task, it can't and that's what causes it to crash.

Switch doesn't 'hard' crash as much since update, improvement there. Now I notice game freezes in random situations. Controls completely stop working, characters just stand there moving back and forth. Have to back out, save data cloud, restart game. Also, I make sure to do big tasks like harvesting or planting crops as soon as I login because game starts lagging pretty quickly. Would be nice if the player avatar wasn't so jerky and difficult to maneuver. I actually bought a gaming laptop, installed xbox and loaded my game because it is IMPOSSIBLE to decorate, specifically paths, on a switch. I love being able to play on my switch because of the portability and the fact you have two joy cons instead of one controller, but I’ve been forced to go back to playing on Xbox because I have crashed 8 different times doing different things in the last three days. One crash was just walking out of my house. Another was in the middle of harvesting pumpkins. Another was just me walking away from the game for five mins to get food. I have to wait several second to 30 seconds for it to open one chest in my house after opening another. Sometimes it doesn’t register my buttons (that could just be my joy con tho). There is also a lot of lag sometimes in the audio music or graphics.

I can’t get to the main menu screen at all if connected to the internet, but when I’m not I can? Twice today, I've been in the Furniture menu, working on moving some things around, and after I move 3-4 things, I go to set one down, and the little hand stops moving. I can still hit X and get the furniture menu to pop up, and I can navigate it a little, but nothing is selectable, so it doesn't really matter. No buttons work. I essentially have to return to the Switch menu and Close Software.

As long as when you check data management on your system and it reads the micro SD card, asking with the fact that every other game your digitally downloaded can read it. Nothing's wrong with it. I think a bug in the ddv update made it unable to read specific/certain micro SD cards.

1. On your switch go to Nintendo eShop with the account you used to get ddv
2. Go to your icon on the top right > redownload > Disney dreamlight valley
3. Go home to see if the game redownloads. If it says unable to access micro SD card > go to system settings to double check if micro SD is popping up in data management > if it's there, press home button > hover over ddv and press + > software update > redownload
4. Close any games and make sure your system is not using the internet to allow ddv to download (it should work and start redownloading from there)
5. THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT!!! ONCE IT REDOWNLOADS!!! DO NOT LAUNCH YET!!! IMMEDIATELY GO TO SYSTEM SETTINGS > DATA MANAGEMENT > MOVE DATA BETWEEN SYSTEM / MICRO SD CARD > MOVE TO SYSTEM MEMORY > MOVE DDV TO SYSTEM MEMORY IMMEDIATELY
6. RESTART YOUR CONSOLE AND DOUBLE CHECK THAT INDEED DDV WAS MOVED TO SYSTEM MEMORY AND IT'S NO LONGER ON YOUR MICRO SD CARD

Did it allow you to download it though? If you're trying to move it to the system memory and that error pops up, restart your console and keep trying to move it to the system memory.

I REALLY hate losing progress and some times hours of work (because decorating on Switch is a pain) on decorating and rearranging a biome because it seems that every time I go to close out the furniture menu….the game can’t handle the changes and it either freezes on the spinning sparkle icon screen to the point I have to close the game out myself….or it out right crashes and ALL the things I just did is undone. I want to be able to stay focused and just go with the flow for how I am inspired to lay things out, but this huge part of the game loses it’s fun factor when I feel I have to close my menu and save my game constantly because if I don’t I’ll have to redo it all, and that is even if the game doesn’t close due to an error on me first! I hate to say it but it seems this game is too much for Switch to handle with how many problems people have. It is disheartening to finally have the patience and down time to decorate and lose it because the game malfunctions. I don’t really want to spend more money to buy a game I already own, to decorate on PC so I can have nice biomes on my Switch 😩

Cloud save isn’t for the game saving technically,you save by clicking save. Cloud save is for cross play if You have the same secondary console/device to transfer your alternate/primary save to to the secondary. I hope I was clear in my explanation.

Devs really need too adjust the storage! This type off storage using creates the glitching. The going in and out chest is too much and verry annoying. I have over 30 chest... going in and out 6 off those chest makes it already crash.

Hi all, I play on the switch and I was decorating my village when it crashed. It was when I was working on Eric’s castle. Switch OLED, and since the last update every time a character levels up through daily conversation, I can’t get out of that screen. They’ll go away, but their last words are on screen, and I have to go to the Home Screen and force close DDV. This doesn’t happen if they level up through gifting or hanging out.

I’ve been playing for 8 days now and my switch freezes or crashes a couple times every single gaming session. They happen spontaneously and during triggered events like accessing multiple storage chests or planting/harvesting multiple crops. Other times it just happens randomly. I lose my work a lot because the autosave doesn’t come on fast enough. I’ve gotten into the habit now of having to manually save my progress every 2 minutes when I’m doing something important like storing multiple items into storage chests or gardening/harvesting multiple crops because it’s gotten frustrating to lose my progress each time the game crashes. The developers are constantly working to increase the stability of the game across all platforms, but especially switch because it's the least stable. Patches/fixes tend to come out with the updates, so hopefully there will be some increased stability for y'all with update 3 next month. 😩 I'm trying to move an NPC house (Woody's) from Sunlit to the Forest and every time I do place it where I want. Either one or 2 things happen A: like the video above that I posted the other day all flashy n stuff or B: the furniture screen will freeze and won't let me exit but will let me scroll through items but won't let me select said item to place it anywhere. Both ends up in crashing and have to force shut down every time So now that house is basically stuck in Sunlit and now I have to figure out how to make a Carnival over there rather than the forest 😩 that wasn't my plan I wanted to make it like where you walk through woods and stumble into a Carnival but it's missing the main attraction if I can't move Woody's house without it crashing my game every single time

Let this be noted, the update was announced 6 days ago. They’ve had SIX days since then to tell us what they’ve updated to improve gameplay for switch users. Not one mention of better game stability for switch players, but they sure as heck have no problem teasing all the features coming along with the update. Fix your game Disney. It’s honestly super disheartening. This update is going to be complete 💩 for people playing on the switch. Hope y’all enjoy getting back your unlimited coal, I would just love to play the damn game without crashing every single time ☠️😂

Hi, so I’ve been playing the switch version for a while but I wanted to check in with anyone whose more up to date on potential stabilisation issues; I’ve noticed that my screen has a soft lock of the ‘give item’ screen. I wanted to ask if anyone else had this issue or if it was potentially just my own device? Other than that the customising of the different biomes can be glitchy too which is sad but I’ve been scouring the Dreamlight website for updates on any patches or system improvements since seeing the latest updates coming out and haven’t seen anything there 😰 is there any insight into the potential updates coming to switch or is this just an ongoing issue to accept? 😰

We haven't noticed any crashing issues as of late, thank you for that. However, I am not sure if anyone else has this issue with their Switch, but, for us, while we are playing the game, there is a loud wirring that comes from our device. Sometimes, it's only for a couple minutes and sometimes it can last the entire time we are playing the game. It is only happening with DDV as I have tried many other games both downloaded and with the game cartridge. Does DDV pull some excess power from the systems that it's on to cause this?

Woke up today to start playing again and I can’t move in game. My left joy on is connected, as I can scroll through the App Store and do other things, just in Disney Dreamlight I am stuck in place. I’ve reset the app, removed /reconnected the joycons, checked for an update and no luck!! I’ve tried teleporting on the map but still after than I just can not walk or move anywhere

Yeah, this is mostly why people are asking Game Loft to place old Star Path items somewhere someplace for Moonstones.
Oh yeah, and if the controls stop working, you need to save, close, and restart the Switch.
Happened to me some game, IDK if it was DDL or Scarlet/Violet.

Anyone else having an issue where it tells you that you have exceeded the amount of items in an area? I’ve had this happen during quests and end up having to remove stuff like trees to make room for the quest item.

I’ve also encountered a problem where I cannot open a chest in the valley of the forgotten. I get a message telling me I’ve already gotten my daily limit and to check back and it keeps making the noise like it is going to open but doesn’t and the noise won’t stop and just follows.

My game keeps crashing when I go into furniture mode and move items about. I'm trying to move the trees and when I'm done and back out it freezes. I end up having to close the game and lose all my progress 😦

I left the mines and it was like first person… you know eye opening animation… then just grey fog and the option to pet my companion. Sat like that for a bit then hit the + trying to change the screen and got the boot
