Hello everyone!
For whatever reason I decided I wanted to test out the drop rate for Rich Soil after the Scar content update, and here I am finally done over a week later ๐
I grew 1000 of each crop in their native biomes.
TL;DR for this post โ if you are in need of rich soil, grow a bunch of wheat. The drop rate is low, but it grows so quickly that it doesnโt matter.
If you are interested in the drop rates I experienced for each crop, here you go:
Peaceful Meadow
Carrots โ 6.2%
Lettuce โ 4.2%
Wheat โ 4.5%
Dazzle Beach
Corn โ 6.5%
Sugarcane โ 6.1%
Tomato โ 6.1%
Forest of Valor
Bell Pepper โ 5.3%
Canola โ 4.2%
Onion โ 5.4%
Glade of Trust
Okra โ 5.3%
Rice โ 5%
Spinach โ 3.5%
Frosted Heights
Asparagus โ 4.4%
Cucumber โ 5.3%
Eggplant โ 4.8%
Sunlit Plateau
Chili Pepper โ 5.7%
Cotton โ 4.7%
Soya โ 4.4%
Zucchini โ 5.1%
Forgotten Lands
Leek โ 4.9%
Potato โ 4%
Pumpkin โ 6.1%
I feel confident in saying that Gardening Buddies DO NOT help with Rich Soil after all this testing. I had one with me for all of my harvests except the few I tried a Digging Buddy for, and it never seemed to change anything (the Digging Buddies never duplicated it either). Maybe they will in the future, but not as of writing this post.
I also do not believe the weather changes anything with the drop rates. I kept track of when/if it rained while I was harvesting each crop, and it didnโt seem to do anything (I didnโt keep track of fog, but I canโt imagine that would change much either).
Overall, the drop rate was between 4-6%. If youโre farming pumpkins to try and give Scrooge a run for his money, then youโll end up with a decent amount of Rich Soil. If all you need is Rich Soil, then Wheat will be your best bet.
I hope this was helpful to someone. If not, at least I have a bunch of dirt in my chests now ๐
