I have literally lost count of how many times I've fed the little guy, both cocoa beans and peanuts. I have all the other squirrels and most of the other critters. Grey squirrel is still not in my collection or equipable in wardrobe.

Issue: I have a problem with the orange looking squirrel. I fed it more then 10 times and it still doesn’t show as a companion nor does it show in the critter collection. Other squirrels worked just fine feeding them 2-3 times but this one doesn’t seem to work.
It is not a big problem so I understand that it isn’t a big priority. There are bigger problems to solve but was just wondering if others had this problem to with just this squirrel.

That’s a motif. When they give you a bag, critters always give motifs (yellow bags) not clothing (blue bags). Furniture is in the reddish/pink bags.

(1) still the same thing with the classic rabbit & black raccoon- I’ve fed each essentially every day it’s been available since game release (this is an issue I see multiple people complain about but with varying animals so I just hope it gets acknowledged as a bug at some point)
(2) was able to feed the red raven just fine, however the white raven would not let me approach it. Saw someone else mention this above as well

Make sure you're not inside a building. I made that mistake early on. Didn't realize I couldn't change critters unless I was outside.

Is there a set guide on how to unlock critters in your collection. Some people say after 10 feeds, some people say after 2 feeds 24 hours apart. Can it be made clearer how to add them to your collection.

I still don’t have the white bunny unlocked as companion. Other critters missing unlock where I am also fairly certain that I fed the favourite food multiple times.

Could be, but as I also don't get furnitures and clothes, and I miss tons of them, I'm not sure. Plus, I've had several duplicate motifs (which we're not supposed to) so we would probably have that anyway.
I just don't get bags, except rarely in chests

I've been having this issue as well. I've only been able to unlock the gray squirel. All the others I've been feeding peanuts for weeks and haven't unlocked.

Yes, it doesn’t appear as a menu option at all, I’ve been flipping my game upside down looking for it. I had it there before when I assigned my squirrel, but now. Poof. Nothing. I still have my squirrel just no menu option to switch it.

Playstation 5. Since the beginning, critters will not unlock for me besides the squirrels. And I really want to have the Raven as companion, and it's not possible due to this issue. I really need a fix.
I just fed the Raven, 5 star meal, it showed me a heart and gave me a gift. And again, not unlocked. Please help?

Issue: I have lost the ability to feed animals/critters. Squirrels can come up to me, I can interact/approach them but when I click on fruit or peanuts from my inventory, I can no longer feed it to them, I just hear a clicking sound and then absolutely nothing happens. I can still exit out of the menu and continue the game but the animal/critter just stays there, still waiting to be feed. This happens to every other critter as well. Even new ones from new biomes I have just unlocked, new ones I have never interacted with before.

Issue: I have all of the Squirrels besides the Black one and all of the Rabbits besides the White one. I do not know if it is bugged or something. However, for the last four days in a row the black squirrel and white rabbit have showed up in my Village all day. Fed the Squirrel peanuts, the Rabbit a carrot. for a notice that a fed a creature but nothing else. I know for a fact I have fed them both way more than 6 times but I can't get either of them as a companion.

Xbox series X feeding to unlock companions. I have fed the Crocs and raccoons and foxes their favorites still don't have them unlocked. So much wasted gold, lol, sigh. What is the goal number to hit? All the guides I have read say 2x..

I have been feeding the black turtle, the brown turtle and the regular fox every time I’ve seen them since starting the game- so well over the expected 5 times for a fox and never got a food ‘wrong’ with them.
Still aren’t being added to my collections despite the brown turtle for example being on like feed 12 or 13.

Being stuck when inside by characters blocking me in and not being able to push them out the way or having a help I'm stuck button to take you to a safe area or go to the map to fast travel out so instead I'm having to quit the game which is frustrating

Noticed this on crocs specifically. When you’re doing the game with one… if the other croc happens to bump into it, it glitches the croc so the game and his movement is messed up. I have to fail it then find him again to start over.
(Might be the case for raccoons too.)

Issue: Critters are not spawning at all, in any of the biomes. I just booted up my game, and went to feed the foxes in the Frosted Heights, but the little foxes are nowhere to be found. I checked for raccoons in the Forest of Valor and squirrels in the Plaza, and... nothing. Gonna re-start my game, but that's a really sad glitch ):

Would be nice if there is a reaction giving a bit of clarification if it is a bug or not. Should they unlock when feeding twice or is it random or not.

Same issue. The white sturgeon is incredibly rare to get but favorite for fox. I've been feeding them and the ravens every day with 5 course meal for ravens and still none of them can be companions yet. The raccoons and gators still just run and don't allow me to feed them and been feeding sea turtles seaweed for days as well and only got one turtle now so far.

My critters have somehow glitch and they stopped unlocking. I have been feeding them their favourite food multiple times and they won't unlock...started a couple weeks ago....red fox...pink and white alligators..black turtle...calico rabbit...white squirrel and all ravens.

I sought help for this in #archived-share-your-hints to ensure I was doing this correctly and it seems my game is registering adjusting the camera as movement and messing up the approach on the raccoons. I stop walking when they go to pop back up from the crouch on the approach but due to the density of the FoV I have to adjust the camera to see the raccoon when it runs off. I have even taken out the majority of the trees and it seems I still have to adjust the camera constantly on the approach. I haven't been able to approach them to feed them once in over 100h of gameplay. Am able to approach and feed other critters but not Raccoons for some reason? (have yet to attempt the crocodiles but have fed all other varieties of critter)

A lot of players are frustrated for not being able to unlock certain critters. Because some believe it to be a bug and others are convinced it's just down to bad RNG luck, every time someone asks about critters, this same discussion pops up.

An official position on the matter would settle the matter and set the right expectations for these players.

One of the mods here on Monday sent the concern that some of us can’t even get the critters anymore so I’m hoping it will be addressed soon, for me I haven’t since September and I can’t even continue walk e’s quest because it requires you to feed a critter and I can’t even do that I’m crossing my fingers hard it gets fixed soon.. Orchid Sunbird and the other "not here today" critters you list are what I've been calling "rare" - they're only available for specific six-hour windows during a given week. If you don't happen to be playing during these times, you won't see 'em:

Black Turtle: 10 AM - 4 PM, Mondays

Not sure if this is a bug or something but I see everybody with a companion but I have none and no option to obtain one. I've already completed Moana's quest for Pua and I have fed so many of the critters but there is no option for me to pick a companion in the wardrobe tab - not sure if this is something that is only offered in the Founders Pack or something? If you're dealing with not being able to unlock critters after feeding them a bunch, please submit a bug ticket. The more tickets that are submitted, the more aware they will be that this is a problem.

I am having trouble interacting with critters. I will approach them but there is no option to press button to feed. I have feed squirrels and rabbit a few times, but most times I can't.

All I gotta say is for the people having issues taming the crocs and raccoons, they’re supposed to be a bit tricky to tame. You can’t just run up to them. And you also have to bait their attention and begin creeping forward paying attention to their body language until you can approach them. It can be time consuming when you’re still figuring out how to do it but once you get the hang of it, becomes a breeze

Yeah it took me a while and a lot of frustration to get the hang of it. I find it best to be very patient and wait for them to pause, turn around to face you, (start a medium distance away), and as soon as they lower their heads, tilt the left analog stick by one flick until they go alert again. It’s like red light green light. Just gotta get their attention and be very patient

if it's the former, please adjust the rng because feeding the same critter its "favorite" food more than 10+ times should definitely unlock it. if it's the latter, the mechanism is badly bugged all around.

Do you know the tricks?
Rabbits. Chase usually 3 times and then they'll stop for you.
Ravens. They'll circle and then when they land you can interact.
Turtles. They hide. When they put their heads back up you should be able to feed. (Standing super close)
Raccoons. When they're sat on bums. Go close. If they stand. Stop moving. Repeat until close enough and they'll let you interact.
Crocs. They'll look up and around. When they glance down. Creep. Stop when they look up. Repeat like racoons.
Foxes. Chase like rabbits. They last a little longer.

Every time I get a temporary gold harvest boost, my companion goofy comes in and triggers a conversation, so annoying

You can fence him in (close to where you are) while you harvest and then release him when you're done (before leaving the area or interacting with a sales stall). He'll both stay out of your way, and throw you all or most of your bonus crops all at once.
This may not be worth it if you only have a few crops that take a few seconds to harvest, but for more it helps lol.

I think the majority of spawn times for the rare ones are inaccessible for regular people and not to mention children (this is a Disney game after all). There are at least two that my sister-in-law has never seen because she is a teacher and their spawn times are 8am-2pm and 9am-3pm on weekdays. Not to mention how many are from 6pm-midnight, or Midnight to 6am.
I have no job or daily schedule, and I still struggle to get the two rares on Saturdays and get some form of sleep (when I can sleep is affected by my 14-16 hour stimulant, so if I stay up too late, I don't get any sleep because I have to be up early enough to make breakfast and take my stimulant so it doesn't keep me up all night).

since daylight savings the critter soawn times are 1 hour earlier than what they say in the collection and also they despawn an hour earlier aswell. So if it says 2am - 8am for the red fox on the critter collection it would be 1am-7am . Gameloft know about the times not matching since daylight savings and I'm not sure if they will do something something about it or when. But just remember all spawns/despawns are 1 hour earlier.

Also there is a bug where it's been alot harder to get the critters as companions aswell. So it may take longer than usual to get them. But just keep feeding them their favourites if that's the issue!

It's in #known-issues that Daylight Savings Time has impacted our critter friends too! They got confused, and forgot to adjust for the new times. Please be patient while GL looks into this, and in the mean time, plan to look one hour earlier than normal for those rare friends! Additionally, it is also on the board that it is taking longer than anticipated to befriend, so don't get discouraged if it does, that's ok. You can still get them, it's just a bit longer than normal right now!

I have now tamed every critter except the emerald sunbird. I’ve posted about this before and it seems that the emerald sunbird has not been a common critter to acknowledged if at all. The bird is extremely common and found almost every day of the week. I fed it its favorite foods for months on end. Please address this in a near future update. I’m not sure why my emerald sunbird is glitched, and permanently it seems. If I have accidentally given it something it dislikes, I’m tempted to give it rocks at this point to undo this curse

Sometimes after I feed a critter it will display an animation that shows multiple things dropping from feeding this critter. When this happens, there will usually only be one actual drop from feeding the critter, but wood that dropped at the same time will have a blue glow around it, so you just have to walk over it to pick it up. I have noticed this multiple times with raccoons. There might be other critters that this happens with, but I can't remember it happening with any other ones

yes it is ... if you live for example in germany the time changes makes a difference so its atm from 5pm to 11pm (new critters always at 11pm instead of 12am)

Update, this happened today with a rabbit, and the blue items were one piece of wood, and one flower. I've never had it happen with a flower before

Also, when I fed a squirrel earlier today, the animation didn't happen, and I couldn't pick up the item by just walking over it. I had to actually press the button to pick it up. I have a theory that this might be because it was on the hill between the plaza and the peaceful meadow. So the squirrel was right on the threshold between the two areas. I don't know if my theory is correct or not, but that's why it's just a theory

Issue: feeding critters. After approaching there is no "give" or accept/confirmation button on any foods, just the back button. Tried it in squirrels, rabbits, turtles and even unlocked a new area to test it on crocodiles

This makes it so while the inventory window is open and you can click through all the things in your bag, nothing can be given because there is no promt if that makes sense. There's just "B for back" in my controllers case.

It's been well over 24 hours and in the case of the crocodiles I've never fed them before so it shouldn't be timed out

Issue: My red squirrel is one of the glitched creatures. I have been feeding him diligently since first day and I've only missed a couple days since release. He's eaten his little body weight in peanuts, apples, and raspberries several times over, but he still remains a stubbornly independent soul! (Looking forward to the fix in next update.🐿)

Also, often when I enter the glade of trust, no crocodiles will spawn in the area. The workaround I have found is I have to go another area of the map which is not attached to the glade(anywhere but beach or meadow), and then warp or walk to an adjacent zone (beach or meadow) walk back into the Glade (not arrive via well-travel) to hopefully have them spawn in with the 'refresh'. This works most of the time, but it's a pain.

Hey folks! A quick update for you. Critters not wanting to become pets is a #known-issues and there is a fix coming on the 6th for this (https://trello.com/c/OkxyvGTB/69-critters-are-not-properly-added-to-the-collection). In the meantime, you can still collect them, it's just harder than it ought to be. It's a minimum of 2 feeds and then random after that, but they can be unlocked.
