Breaking the Ice Quest Guide:
If you have the quest objective 'Follow Elsa into the ice cavern', but Elsa asks you to destroy the ice blocking the cavern, follow this guide to progress.

Bring Maui or Donald with you into the ice cavern, talk to them and visit their house via the prompt 'Let's go see your house!'. See the picture linked below or at the end of the guide.

Exit out and Elsa should be fixed.

Important:
If you don't have the prompt available, Maui or Donald have to be roaming outside when you ask to hangout, so keep checking back every hour to see if they are outside, and not in their house or another building like Scrooge's shop or Chéz Remy.
Apart from having Level 2 friendship to hangout, friendship level seems irrelevant.
The hangout prompt only appears with ocean residents who can be your companion, and so Maui and Donald are the only available choices.

Elsa is blocked inside the Ice Cavern:
If you've been trying to give Elsa the Summer Potion while she's inside the Ice Cavern when it's blocked by stalagmites, do not worry! She will eventually leave or spawn outside in the valley, but you'll just have to wait until then.

If you're struggling with finding Elsa outside of the cavern, here is her schedule: Lunch from 10 AM - Noon & dinner from 9 - 11 PM. You can find her at Chéz Remy at those times.

Can confirm this will do the trick. Just do everything mentioned above and walk out of Maui’s house will teleport the players back to the cave with Elsa being ready to build the bridge. Can’t thank enough Skargrill for the effort of finding this. Was thinking about stop playing for few days until there is a new patch. Turn out this really isn’t the time for the ruler of Dreamlight Valley to rest yet. Really again thank you all for the heads up and the efforts of finding out a solution.

Did take Maui with me to see her home and didnt get prompt to go see his home. He was at his home when I picked him up though, refreshed the hang out with him, didn't work either. Donald is in Remy's restaurant, gave him the food he needs now stays in the restaurant.

Tried interacting with Elsa once more but while the quest says follow her she walks away from the objective, although the objective is already cleared.

I will retry the Maui/Donald thing some other time. Thanks for the tip anyway.

Ask Donald to Hang Out & see if you have the prompt "Let's go see your house!". If not try back in an hour with both Maui & Donald.

Tried taking Donald from the restaurant to go see the cavern. Didnt show prompt to see his home when we got there.

I booted up the game and Maui and Donald were both in a building but Donald got out of his and asked him to hang out and went to the cavern and then asked Donald to go to his house just now.

Should I stop the hangout and then check if the " Breaking the Ice " quest is allowed to be finished? While I kinda fast forwarded when I cleared the cavern without Elsa being in with me yet XD ?

Yes, they have to be wandering out side to show the "let's see your house" prompt.

I picked him up in the restaurant, that's why even tho I asked him to hang out, the prompt for his house never showed up

I'm all leveled up to max, the villagers are all leveled up to max, all of my quests are complete... but this last simple objective in the last quest of the game. My Plans for World Domination are hindered for the time being. 😩

As you can see Elsa just stands there with a piece of paper. All sh asks me to do is “come with here to see what’s blocking the cave”. Everything has been cleared outside and inside cave so there’s nothing left. It doesn’t show here but Donald is in here with us.

I swear, this bug is driving me insane. None of the fixes works for me😭 I keep asking Maui and Donald when they are roaming around, still the option to see their house doesn't show up when I'm in Elsa's cave. Been stuck with this problem for weeks now and nothing works😭

I’m on the same page, Bibble. Tried all the workarounds on my switch and xbox and i still have no luck. i’m debating whether i should upgrade my pickaxe with the potion or just reroll the game and bring Elsa before Maui, that way if I get stuck again i can do the quest with Maui to upgrade my pickaxe and get past it. this is driving me nuts 😭

i also can’t seem to be able to go see Maui or Donald’s house while i’m hanging out with them inside the cavern, even if i asked to hang out while they were roaming around outside.

Btw, the Breaking the Ice workaround was designed for the October build. Since Gameloft supposedly fixed this issue, I'm not sure if this workaround would still work or if it's still relevant. If you're having issues it may be a novel bug.

I managed to get this, and still no luck. They both have the "go to your house" missing when I'm in the cave, but right outside the door, I have the option for both Donald and Maui.

i’m having the same issues being stuck on this quest. the workarounds didn’t do anything for me unfortunately either, i can’t ask Donald or Maui to go to their house while inside the cavern as described by documented workarounds. i opened a gameloft ticket a week or two ago but haven’t heard anything

I have the same problem with the quest at the moment.... I thought I had the solution now that I found these upper posts here to finally find out that it was months ago and therefore it is neither possible to use Donald nor Maui for the quest.
Opened a support ticket a few days ago but haven't heard back yet :/

I got an update from Gameloft & they stated that they will work on this issue & will be releasing a fix for this soon along with other quests that are halted 🥲

I have the same problem…I went inside the cave with Elsa and started to destroy everything inside of it. Turned out the game didn’t recognize me going inside the cave and still said go inside. So I went out and went in again next mission is destroying everything…yeah here I am stuck.
Contacted gameloft und they responded that they will have a look over it, however, it will take time.
Unfortunately I can’t visit Mauis nor Donalds house while we are inside of of the cave 🥺
