Xbox Series X|S 30FPS Not 60FPS

You can get 60fps for a short time when you reset your settings ingame.

Its really weird but who knows why that works

But its only until you go into a building or after a minute, then it goes back to 30fps.

Yeah it’s 30fps but when I click setting sound default boom 60fps till I restart the game or go in to a house then it drops back to 30fps

The issue is also present and can easily be replicated on Xbox Cloud Gaming (for those who dont actually have a physical Xbox console). The workaround still applies by resetting your sound settings to default to unlock the FPS.

One of the weirdest bugs to be fair. It’s exactly like @rain latch already described it. I have the feeling that the “enhanced for Series X|S” is not activated somehow.

Yes, but there is another bug, if you set these settings to default, the game will be set to english automatically, even if you chose another language. then you have to go back to the main menu. 😭

On Xbox Series X and I'm definitely not getting 60fps. I'm barely getting 30! It gets even worse when walking through Frosted Heights, it's so laggy in that area I can't move around there.

This isn't a permanent fix, not for me at least. It works for a minute then goes back to 30fps. And I'm not gonna sit there resetting my settings to default every time I want 60fps for a few minutes. It should be like that standard as advertised. I hope they fix it soon :/

For me it’s fixed either till I enter a building or restart the game

so after i enter a building its back to 30 fps ill do the same trick and its back to 60fps so as long as im outside its good

Im using a LG 65" HDMI 2.1 120hz with VRR and even when im not doing the reset im getting fps drops in the frosted land when i do the trick mention above all works fine execpt the frosted land getting fps drops there but no crashes i played since day one a lot but not having a single crash im using a Xbox Series X

I'm sorry but I have to smirk about this first topic sentence. "Post here if you encounter 30fps on Series X"

This gives the wrong impression of being a glitch or bug that only a few people are affected off, which it just isn't. This is for every single player who downloads the game on Series X, it's how you shipped it, with the One X profile instead of the next gen Series X profile. You probably forgot to make a checkmark somewhere when uploading this to the server, it's simply not playing on Series X settings, for no one.

If I do the reset trick it's only real 60 in some of the outside areas when not turning the camera to the center of the island. In the snow area and forgotten lands it actually drops to around 20fps, so you even feel it hard when you haven't unlocked the fps.
When unlocking the FPS it actually drops every single time to around 40fps whenever you turn your camera to the middle from everywhere. It's almost never stable, so I hope it's just because it runs the wrong performance profile, but it should be a lot better since this, apparently doesn't happen on PS5. I'll upload a video of how bad it really is in a few minutes

I can confirm on the PS5 there is no issues with FPS (I play PS5)

That's really crazy to me, just because after putting like 60 hours into this on SX and knowing how often it can even drop under 30 and how crazy unstable the 60fps mode is (with unlocking it via the sound setting glitch).
Cause first I thought this is just how it runs and they limited it for a reason since I also tested it on my older Laptop and guess what, every time it drops under 60 on my older machine, it's also because I turning the camera to the town middle so I thought maybe that's just heavy in general and it kinda made sense to me why it then drops on Xbox too there? But hearing that PS5 does indeed holds 60 everywhere makes this seem like an even bigger problem than just the devs forgetting to take off the 30fps limit, they probably forgot the let the game run completely on Series X profile or only uploaded the One X version and therefore it can't take advantage of the Series X, or something like that. It's wild.

So, here you go. In both videos the 60fps is unlocked, you can see (just briefly because I can only take 30second clips, sorry) that it's stable 60 whenever you turn the camera away from the middle (and how nice that feels for a few seconds. 🥲) But turning it to the middle from everywhere goes down to under 50, probably 40 fps and it's never stable.

Im also playing on an LG B1 65” OLED, set to 60hz on console. Ive had like 4-5 crashes in total since release.

Ive played it in my old One X for a test and it looks and plays exactly the same as on Series X. No difference.

Yeah, I heard that before, that's why I thought this could simply be the issue, that they either never really uploaded their native Series X version (unlike on PS5 where there is a native PS5 version) or it's actually there, just sleeping behind our download and they simply forgot to make an internal checkmark somewhere to kind of unlock it for Series X users, or there is some issue with their implementation of the Series X version and the consoles "Smart Delivery" (that's actually my top guess). You know, since Playstation doesn't have Smart Delivery and PS5 depends on completely separate PS5 versions, there was no confusion for the devs, 1 PS4 version of the game and 1 PS5 version of the game, on Xbox, something probably went wrong with smart delivery.

[PC-Xbox store] FPS/Screen tearing i cannot enter any building without the screen tearing, from my understanding the frame rates cannot catch up with one another resulting in the top half of the screen being a few milliseconds ahead of the bottom half. This also happens sometimes when i simply walk or move the camera outdoors; but if i adjust the graphic settings back & forth from ultra-very low that somehow momentarily fixes it until i have to adjust it again. (i haven't tried adjusting the sound settings, in my settings i have the options to choose between 30 and 60fps but it seems incapable of reaching a consistent 60fps resulting in worsened screen-tearing and lag. I now keep the setting on 30fps in the hopes there wont be as much of a gap between the fps in the top half of the screen and the fps in the bottom half) I have vision-problems related to my disabilities, as a result i cannot play the game at all when i am unable to fix this issue. I cannot interact with anything inside any building, or even move the camera without the screen tearing occurring; and there is no way i can find to fix this part of the issue. Leaving the decorating-my-house portion of the game completely unusable; and scrooges store/Remy's restaurant/any friends house utterly aggravating to have to use. Since I'm able to build/place a chest and an oven outside i can at least still play the game.

I know this issue has been flagged i just wanted to give an Update on my end; it seems to have gotten worse. Now (the past two-three days) when i try to play it's occurring every time i walk both outside and in, and when i move the camera. Making it completely unplayable for me, (I have light sensitivities from my disability) im hoping when i check the game later, ill once again be able to adjust the settings to fix it, but even if i can all game play inside any building is still near or completely unplayable for me. Is it really so hard to "hit the switch" and make the native Series X version available to us which is simply not working as a whole currently? It's clearly not a glitch or bug and more like a smart delivery problem where we can only use the One X enhanced version instead.

That's not a "fix" it's still an unoptimized, probably last gen version that you unlock with drops to 40fps all the time whenever you move the camera to the middle of the island and drops to ca 20fps in the snow area and forgotten lands.
While the PS5 version runs flawless.

Yeah, of course its playable for most people but on my Oled it looks very choppy and i get headaches playing the game. Im also too used to playing nearly everything in 60fps, that doesnt make it any better 😂

Switch and PS4 has a higher priority because the game is literally unplayable, it crashes often and needed optimizing - if it is still an issue after the update you can submit a new support ticket (so they know it is still a post update issue) to flag it for the team 💙

True you do not work for game loft but you can ask them if they can confirm if this issue is fixed or not in the next update or even acknowledge this issue but you have a way to connect to them for us or do i need to tag the gamelofters are they able to tell or help

So i have tested it already and it is stuttering whenever im looking into the direction of the castle, atleast from far away. From Mother Gothel House as example. All in all its really good now.

I haven't unlocked that far yet so I can't test long distance graphics. I can confirm that the game is running at 60fps, and other minor things like vertex shading on the trees etc all fixed too. Like night and day in comparison. Thank you 🙏

Before the tread closes. I played now a few hours yesterday and today on my series X. Never encounter a crash or freeze or whatsoever. The framerate is now perfect and even the lightning, resolution etc. looks way better then before. I really have to say thank you. I am really happy with the game right now 🥰
