This quest chain requires a lot of patience and step by step process. Do not do anything unless it tells you to. Unfortunately, this quest does have some "written between the lines" sort of situations which is why we are going to try and assist you on your journey on doing the "What Home Feels Like! Quest Chain for Elsa's final reward!

Glittering Herring
The big things a lot of people tend to get stuck on is the Glittering Herring, whether it's when to catch it or catching it way before they are supposed to. The quest requires you to catch the Glittering Herring in the Glade of Trust when it is raining. Look for the Golden Bubbles in the water in the Glade.

If by chance, you happen to catch the Glittering Herring before the quest told you to, here is some steps you can take. Put the fish in a storage container in Wall-E's Realm and that should register that you no longer have this fish in your inventory, letting you catch another the next time it rains in the Glade! Keep in mind this may not work for everyone and to continue to report this issue in #1019676691603402792 in the respected thread.

Fish Pie
Once you have been able to capture the Glittering Herring, your quest will require you to make a Fish Pie, this is where the fun happens. This quest is not super clear on these steps so please read carefully.

The Recipe for the Fish Pie is: Dandelion Syrup, Butter, Wheat, Glittering Herring (IN that Order)

If you do not have the Dandelion Syrup in the pot, you may notice the "Start Cooking" prompt to be grayed out, this is to protect you from lose of the Glittering Herring.

Arendellian Pickled Herring
Once you have created the Fish Pie and the quest once more directs you, it will then have you make the following recipe. A lot of people panic at this point because they think the Glittering Herring goes into this recipe. It in fact does not.

The Recipe for the Ardenellian Pickled Herring is: Normal Herring, Lemon, Onion, Garlic, Oregano

Once you have these made, your quest should than prompt you once more. You may end up with an extra Pickled Herring item in your inventory, don't worry about it. We think it's a bugged item.

What if the Glittering fish is indeed used when making the fish pie? That's what happened to me and I only noticed it after. I haven't been able to fish it from the Glade again...

Well after I made the fish pie it asked me to make sure I have both the fish pie and the glittering fish in my inventory. Since I used that fish to cook the fish pie I cannot have it any longer on my inventory because it was used. :c

It shouldn’t say that. It should say make sure you have the fish pie and the arendellian pickled herring (cooked with a normal herring, as described in Celestial’s post above) in your inventory. If that’s not the case for you then its bugged:(

So you were right, it does not ask for the fish but for the Arendellian meal. However when I moved the meals to my inventory, it only acknowledges the fish pie.

For some reason my meal is Extra-Pickled?

Well I tried to make a new meal without the special fish and it worked, so I have no idea if that's how it's meant to work. Anyways, it seems to be solved. Thank you for helping me out!

A lot of people already cooked the fish pie before the quest asked them too and they no longer have the dandelion syrup. Next patch, a good fix would be to make the dandelion syrup a craftable item again so those of us that are missing it can finish the quest.

I’ve fished 4-5 times in the rain and have yet to find the glittering herring, I’m hoping I didn’t accidentally use it in a recipe and eat it before I got the task and didn’t realize what it was because I wasn’t paying attention

I am in the same boat. I just caught 52 fish in the glade during rain and still no glittering herring. I used my original in the pickled herring. I even tried leaving the pickled herring in another realm earlier. Didn't work. 😭

I accidentally used my glittering herring to make the pickled herring for this quest and it made extra pickled herring, I now am meant to make the fish pie but it requires a glittering herring to make it. I am not getting any new gold bubble spawn points near mother gothels in the rain to catch this second glittering herring. Barely any gold bubbles spawn in the glade for me in the rain. I still have the syrup.

Will I then get asked to use the glittering herring for another pickled herring?

I didn't re-make the syrup. I had made the fish pie with the correct ingredients but she wasn't there. I still had that fish pie in my inventory. I went and asked her to hang out with me so she would follow me and then made a normal fish pie without the special ingredients but I gave her the original fish pie with the special ingredients.

Shoutout to @bold orchid who may have found a work around, but we need someone to test this out!

I caught the glittering herring early in the quest but never used it and now i'm on the "catch the glittering Herring" part. Fished everyday in the rain at the glade for at least 1 gold fishing spot and have only ever gotten lobsters even after the patch. I don't think it's working as well as they think it should. I can't use, drop, cook, or sell the glittering herring I have either.

Don't know why they can't just make the game check your current inventory for any quest items. Seems like it would solve a lot of the bugs for a bunch of these quests.

I have been struggling with the Elsa quest “What home feels like”.
My problem is it just doesn’t seem to rain very often during the day? The few times it has rained it has been at night.

This is where I’m at, I can’t remember if I caught it and baked it and ate it or sold it, and have had no luck fishing while raining catching it. So you’re not alone. I don’t think I’ve caught it but I can’t be sure heh

Yeah it was a golden bubble spot that showed up kinda by Goofy’s stall facing Gothel’s house. It’s probably random though I’m not sure. I don’t think I’ve ever caught one before though so I was just letting the other person who didn’t think they had caught one before that it will come

I also accidentally used the glittering herring for the Arendellian pickled herring, and now I can’t find another glittering herring for the fish pie so I cannot progress further with the quest. I also still have the dandelion syrup. I've overfished so much in the Glade during the rain that not only have I NOT caught another glittering herring, but bubbles of any color have stopped respawning for about 5 minutes at a time. I run around the glade bubbleless. I get the hint. I'm destroying the environment by overfishing, but the devs are making me do it! Just give me my glittering herring, and I'll never fish here again. I promise! (Unless another quest requires something fished from the glade, then God help me)

There are so many different problems with this single quest.. they gonna fix the quest soon for sure. Just wait patiently. Don’t forget this game is pretty solid for an early access game. These problems are the reason it is still labelled early acces. I think the game is in great shape for the stage it is in.

For the people that used the glittering herring in their arendellian pickled herring: what happens if you take it (and everything else related to the quest) and stuff it in the storage chest at Wall-e’s world then try to fish. The game seems to see completed dishes as parts, so I’m wondering if it ‘sees’ the glittering herring in there so won’t spawn a new one?

I got a code for free to two months of new gamepass account here on discord, so I was able to create a game pass account on my pc and use that. Then I downloaded the game for free.

As it states above, the best thing to do when this happens is to go to Wall-E's realm and put your current herring in a storage box so it no longer registers that you have one and then try and catch a new one

This happened to me. I made the pie using wheat from my storage when there wasn’t wheat in my pocket, and the game doesn’t register it. I have no way to make another dandilion syrup

I tried this a couple different ways. Tried it with the glittering herring in my direct inventory and with it in the wall e realm storage to see if that would work. Was the fish pie with the dandelion syrup in your bag or in storage when you made a pie with Elsa? I also made sure I had the ingredients in my bag and not from storage. Did you also have the pickled herring in your inventory?

that's what i did. i just automatically assume that the wheat in my storage would be fine. but i cooked the pie, saw that it still told me that i needed wheat and butter so i was like.....alright, went to collect it got the cook pie quest and now its just sitting in my quest list.

Yes for definite praying this one gets some attention as I really want to progress with Elsa. I've been so careful to follow quest instructions to the letter to avoid getting locked out but I was tired and I thought 'check for wheat and butter' literally meant just check for it, not put it in your backpack

I got in touch with customer support about accidentally using the glittering herring in another recipe and just received a reply saying they have forwarded this to the development team and they are investigating this situation. This quest has so many issues I’m sure and hope it will get resolved soon, especially if each of us report our issues to the support team. I’ve almost finish all the character quests will just have Elsa’s now until further updates.

This here is the reason I read these channels and forums way before I encounter issues. So I know what to avoid. I wish there was a way to get the info to people before they have problems! I think eventually it will be patched to not avoid quest items that have been made with storage items. Maybe even a cancel quest button to start over.

I’m having an issue with this quest. I got all the ingredients when prompted and made the recipes but the game unexpectedly closed right after making the fish pie and when I turned back on the fish pie was gone along with the glittering herring and it’s prompting me to make the fish pie still. And I can’t find the glittering herring again???

Slightly unrelated to the quest (except that it’s what I made when I used my glittering herring for the wrong thing). I don’t eat pickled herring, what does it mean “it wouldn’t be a great idea to eat this”?

I think it’s a joke since she supposedly had it in the chest for an indeterminate amount of time. But actually you can’t eat it if you try. It’s just a useless object at the moment. For a later quest you can’t use this one, you have to make a new regular one.

@orchid timber there are some suggestions here in this channel. But I don’t think it’s helping anyone. Seems like most people are broken if they do this wrong and need to wait for a patch

I can’t decide if I want to restart my game or not. I am not done with it. I would be sad about my outfit because it’s cute (see my extra-pickled herring screenshot above). But I don’t mind doing the tasks I have done again. Sometimes I accidentally read too fast so I don’t even get to appreciate the dialogue.

I got my wife and I the game. She did the quest the right way. She finished all her other quest. It doesn't have any effect on the other characters and knowing thus helps me to wait till they can fix it. Now I just farm and try to get all I want from the shops.

The best thing y’all can do is report it. I ended up restarting my game because I don’t want to wait ~2 weeks for an update so I can continue my favorite character’s quest. And even then, we have no idea if it’s one of the bugs they’ll fix.

If more people report, the developers are more likely to see it as an issue that needs prioritized

I got the same reply from them, telling us not to do a task until prompt Lol, if they can grey out the dandelion syrup when use in the wrong recipes, they shd have grey out the glittering herring when use in wrong Recipe. They did tell us it's possible to catch a second glittering herring after putting the one we have in wall-e Realm. Make sure to triple check you have everything needed in your pockets. Quest items have a little purple diamond symbol. Count and recount, just because it’s checked doesn’t mean you still have the ingredients you need. Read then reread the directions and do them step by step in order only when it tells you too. Go to the quest page on the menu if you need to double check instructions. The shining herring says so in its name, just check. Use the quest recipe button in the stove and autofill so that it adds the correct ingredients, instead of doing it manually. These things all help to do it correctly.

Good morning ! I'm aleays stuck with the "like home" quest. I've been trying to get a sparkly herring for several weeks. I had caught it before the quest asked for it but since impossible to catch another one and my sparkling herring does not allow me to advance in the quest.... I'm fishing the day and only when it's rainy. It doesn't appear in white, blue and gold bubble in the Bayou. Im blocked since 6 weeks.

I sent through my first ticket starting with the fact that I used my Glittering Herring in the recipe, and also asked them to please not send me the automated instructions because they’re really not helpful after the fact. Hopefully we get something helpful soon!

I thought before the Halloween update that they said “Elsa’s feels like home quest will now have the pie made for them” or something so I was expecting to go in and have it just be on the next step with the right pie in my inventory. I honestly would just like a reset on the whole quest.

Well with this glitter fish issue I made the arendellian fish pie but it says I need to fish for glitter fish so idk if I should fish for another one or wait for a patch I don't want to waste time fishing if it won't give me a glitter fish again

Well, the short answer is that you can try to fish for another glimmering herring, but reading this channel it seems doubtful you’ll actually catch one. Personally I’d move on to other quests if you have any, if not that’s go for it and fish! You need a bunch of tuna from the glade anyway for Star path quest so you could work on that while waiting for gold spot. It helps to fish other spots to clear the spawn for a gold one.

Sorry just want to clarify; are you saying you're submitting multiple tickets each time? Or that you sent one in and it was closed and then you plan on sending another since the issue wasn't fixed?

I’ve sent in a second report and I’m planning on sending in a third. This new report will say something like “I’m glad to see this issue has made it to the Trello but please escalate it to actively being worked on…” with some words about why. I’m submitting a new ticket each time because they are closing my tickets each time as far as I can tell.

I don't want to make light of your issue or frustrations so please don't take it that way; but I don't think sending in multiple support tickets when they're aware and still investigating the issue would help overall. I think you'll just end up backing up the support ticket claims and they're already way behind (with support sometimes taking over 4-5 weeks to get back to users already).

So I was actually able to make the Arendellian Fish Pie yesterday for the 1st time. Previously the ingredients would not allow me to add and cook them. But now I have the pie in my inventory and the quest has not advanced from "Catch the Glittering Herring in the Glade on a rainy day."
This is ridiculous that we have gone through multiple patches without a solution to advance this quest.
Can we simply get a "quit quest" option. So we could possibly, you know, START OVER!

If you go into build mode you can move the fountain into the closed off section. Then travel there using the Map function. Do what you need to in there, then move the fountain back outside, and travel back. 🙂

Now, I accidentally put the Glittered Herring in the pickled herring. So my friends & I think that the game thinks I still have it to use it. I went and sold the pickled herring mishap and made the actual one. I put that & the syrup in WALL•E’s realm last night. Going to try it out today and see if it worked.

For the snowballs needed for the holiday items like the igloo I just grabbed my digging companion and dug up the whole snowy side I could access for gardening. I quickly had enough snowballs. Digging companion throws extra balls.

But Elsa won't accept it because it keeps telling me to catch the fish. Played game since day 1 and that's still locked. I've also received the automated response when I reported it. If you only have a regular herring then you will need to catch the glittering one. It can be caught during rain in the Glade.

I agree! The responsiveness of this team overall has been incredible. That’s not what I was saying, nor what I was asking for— I believe you’re misinterpreting me a bit, as I am speaking directly of this issue alone. My point is it makes this one issue even more glaring?
Trust me, I have plenty of other complaints and issues with the game, but I have absolute trust those will be dealt with in time, the game is still going through it’s growing and development pains, and it’s been great to see them be acknowledged, and a lot of them even dealt with in a timely manner.
This particular quest though has affected a lot of people in a lot of ways, and many of us are disheartened, especially that as far as said Trello board goes, the issue is only “acknowledged”. I’ve seen several people restart their game over it. So for that level of issue, no, I do not think this particular issue has been handled with enough transparency. I hope you all understand.

Not trying to say what you feel or your opinion isn't valid or anything! I just really don't think they have been able to expand on the issue further yet, especially since they had thought they fixed it once.

The problem there is that’s only one of the problems. Even if they sent me a fish it wouldn’t forward the quest. I had already had a fish, I just caught it by accident trying to get lobsters before Elsa told me to go catch it. 😂
Ideally they’d quick fix by making the glittering herring a regular spawn until they fix the more complicated code, but hey, what do I know.

That’s what I said, and while I agree that that is not necessarily the case… if it isn’t the case, this is a big enough issue that we should see it moving to that part of the board or have them address it in some way so people don’t feel the need to restart their games. ☹️

One thing I wonder about is if the coding has changed in the base game so much at this point that maybe they can’t even recreate the multiple scenarios that occurred in the first build. Because the game has advanced now it makes me think that it is close to impossible to fix this for the people still holding on to hope. As has just been said, it’s not just one issue. All of you have a variety of different things wrong with the quest at this point. How do they fix it? At this point they’d have to go into each affected game individually and fix that specific games problem. Is that even possible? It’s definitely not cost effective for the company to waste that many tech hours. Truthfully they should have just notified those still effected long ago that a restart would be the best fix and here’s 1000 moonstones for your trouble.

At least that would have given some closure so people could move on! We’re heading into the frosted heights next update.

You keep your founders pack, moonstones, and star path items. Everything else - Scrooge items, friendship items, loot bags, everything - will have to be regained. It does go quicker the second time through. And you can still craft a second copy of Ariel's table for yourself when you get to the quest

Yes. Most of those can be redone though. Just the ones that had spawns (candy buckets, wrapping paper, fish) can't be until next time they come around.

I restarted and I have all of that stuff still. Also, as I was doing a reg duty, a trick or treat candy bucket popped up. So you still get everything back, but in a different way. Just make sure you save everything to the Cloud.

No you're not understanding. You can catch the herring before the step that says "catch a glittering herring". If you do it breaks the quest by making you unable to catch one when you're supposed to. I was attempting to cook with the one I caught too early in an attempt to force the game to respawn the fish or progress the mission but the option to cook with the glittering herring is greyed out. So it's still broken.

I got that too. One is supposed to be the Pickled herring. Put one in your inventory and see what happens. If. Or reboot the game. That’s what worked for me.
