[Archived] Storage Chest in Home Disappears

After expanding your home, some storage chests sitting against the expanding wall have been observed to disappear.

They're not updating with extra space on the house upgrades now on switch either. Did the 20k upgrade and they didn't get a line. Only the OG chest that was given 😦

I lost my castle painting and toy story entertainment system along with both left and right toy story arch windows when i expanded my home. I’m on series x. Super bummed 🫤

I lost a chest a few days ago (with fish and clams in it, so it wasn't the worst) but yesterday, after I placed the safe at roughly the same spot where the chest was, my items appeared in the safe. So I can confirm that it's at least worth a try to place a chest or any form of storage and hope that some magic happens.

my dark wood chests that I bought from scrooges shop is showing all the items in the first chest in all the other chests.

they are not empty just full of the same items from the first chest

The basic default chest players start with, the one that upgrades with the house. When I earned a second one, I had filled it up with items. Later in the day everything in the second chest was lost and filled with a duplication of everything from the first chest.

Crafted chests placed along the center of a wall, and everything stored within them, disappear when you upgrade the house by adding a new room.

With your crafted chest the work around was to build a new chest and you should see the contents of the missing one in it. If there was more than one, then when emptied out into your old chest put the new one back in your inventory and bring it back out and it should have the contents of the next missing chest. This worked for me on Switch. Hopefully the same for you 🙂

So rhis was the closest category i could find to find but i just got the storage chest from the house in a furniture bag. Which cool, ig, except theres no point to it as it shares the storage with the original chest so its mainly useless

My chest completely disappeared, I never got it back and I lost everything in it

My chest hasn’t disappeared but I there’s no real other place to put this. I brought a few more from scrooges shop and when I filled one and went to fill the next I found it already full with the items from the one I had just filled? Why can I buy extra if I can’t fill them with different things? I know can’t even sell them back to Scrooge or at goofy’s stall

My extra space disappeared. Upgraded my house, filled 2 chests (which did expand) today I log on, both chests we’re missing items and space

the Dark Wood Vintage Chest for some reason "shares" an inventory. I got a few of them and wasted a lot of money because no matter how many you have they all count as one and have the same inventory

I did the same thing, I don’t think you should be able to by extra from Scrooge if it is one chest across all chests.

my house is fully upgraded but my chests storage space hasn't increased at all what do I do? is this a common bug?

It’s only the dark vintage chest that increases in storage the ones you can craft don’t

I just did this. The new chest is full with the same stuff as my original chest. Is there a fix for this yet?

Does anyone else notice that the Purple Impatiens don’t seem to move into a chest using the smart transfer?

The dark vintage chest and light vintage chest are useless now that they are indoors items only. I can already access anything from inside my home. This was a nerf to the chests.

The dark wood vintage and light wood vintage chests that you can only buy from Scrooge, act the same as the original chest in your home you got when you first started playing. These chests all have the same shared inventory no matter where you place them. They can be useful if placed in other biomes, saving you a trip back to your house.

The light wood vintage chest can still be placed outdoors, and the dark wood is slated for a fix in the near future allowing it to be placed anywhere once again.

I assumed this was intentional because all of my vintage chests outside of my house disappeared with the update. Thanks for the info.

I had lemons stocked in a chest and now are no longer visable. If I store more lemons in the chest they instantly gone again. Not sure where to post this issue fully.. Been it been like this for months now. I'm playing on steam.
