Its really hard as a serious esk milsim player to coordinate with other squads on the battle field when we do not have team communications. I think that a radio system would be usefull. I think that this radio should be frequency tunable so you can connect to the team frequency, or you can make up your own frequency for your squad (kind of like arma or squad comms). Would deff help with squad communication and coordination!

there is already squad radio
its not tunable, but when you are in a squad ytou can talk on your squad comms
there is also command radio where squad leaders can talk to one another
these systems have been in for a long time actually, keybinds are in the settings menu
i think i just ran into you in game lol
iraqi server?
im not playing rn
oh
well someone with ur name is
lol
anyways its not very user friendly
needs to be a UI or something that comes up
that you can custom tune
you just press the button to talk, i dont know how much more user friendly it can get lol its literally identical to squad
well, there needs to be inter-squad comms, because at the moment you can only talk to your squad if your near them, realistically all the squad members would have radios and they would be able to communicate with eachother through those, and then the squad leader would be on a auxillery channel with other squad leaders
thats more so what I was meaning
??
you dont have to be close
yes you do
now im confused, you mean in game or IRL?
in game
i cannot speak to a squad member
well then explain why i cant hear them
tehre are 3 levels of comms: local, squad, command
local yes you have to be close, but thats not over radio
yea, so me and my buddy have tried talking to eachother from across the map
squad is anywhere on the map
you are doing something wrong then, i dont know what to tell you. this has literally functioned this way for years now
we havent changed that
im hitting the squad communications button
and if hes so far away from me
guess what
cant hear him
i hear what you are saying, but i can assure you it doesnt work that way
i dont know what might be happening in your particular case
but this is just plain and simple not how our VOIP systems work
they are not distance based except for local VOIP, which is just meant to be spoken word and not over a radio
well idk what to tell ya, cuz it aint workin
basically when you speak, if your name is blue that is local
for me or my buddy
if its green that is squad
yea
if its yellow that is command
well im telling you that either theres a bug, or sum aint right
because it aint workin
youd have to show me in a video or something because the VOIP systems havent changed since we put them in
¯_(ツ)_/¯
and that was years ago
ill see what i can do
got a potato sitting on my desk
so
alr well what I have found is that if we switch to a different squad it will work
but for some reason if we are in other squads they will not work
that shouldnt have any bearing on it
if you are in the same squad, your squad comms should work no matter where you are on the map
its no different from squad to squad
Been playing quite a bit over the last couple days and never had any trouble hearing squad mates from accross the maps
unless you have audio issues on your own end it should be working identical to how it has always worked
which i have already outlined
perhaps there can be a mod that touches the radio systems, but im not aware of any that exist at this time. beyond that, maybe the server was very full and you were experiencing audio packet loss issues in certain cases that made it seem taht way? but again, i can literally say with 1000% certainty that the radio systems works the following way:
- local VOIP: spoken word, only audible up to X meters, no radio is being used
- squad VOIP: if you are in the same squad you can speak to one another on squad radio no matter where you are on the map
- command VOIP: squad leaders can talk on command radio no matter where you are on the map
it has always worked this way and we have not touched it since implementing it
maybe the server im playing on just has comms f'ed up
idk
was it very full when you were on it?
however it would still be cool if we had a UI for radios instead of just a button, as well as some sort of mic click to notify us that we are talking on radio (just for coolness effect)
as well as having it be able to be tuned
nah
may have been ping
cuz the servers ping was bad
ya for sure
could be
usually VOIP is one of the first things to break down if there are network issues as its pretty heavy network traffice-wise
transmitting and sending all the voice data
fair
but you usually only see that on a really full server 64+ players
The servers ping was awful
i mean awful
Could be that
