you can play the release version by subscribing to it on workshop so it shows up in the singleplayer menu, or finding the hidden URL for the preview version and subscribing to it.
But since yoshi doesn't want us spreading the preview URL you'll have to figure that out on your own :/

yoshi's mod is using unreal vehicle physics (that's why they tumble around so easily like they're made of styrofoam and weigh nothing)

and then reworked the whole system again afterwards
so in theory as soon as vanilla vehicles land, yoshi will be able to steal the driving hands

oh, also, yoshi has mentioned he has some basic automated navigation blueprints for land vehicles, in a discussion on if he would be using the GOAP AI trees for vehicles or not. We'll see where he goes with that, "let him cook..."
unknown if the next OHD update with vehicles will have bots driving with GOAP trees making the decisions in C++ land, or if it will be left up to players initially. (from what I've heard, it sounds like it'll probably players first and then the ai drivers/pilots will come in later updates. If so, there will probably be enough hooks left in place for modders to bodge in their own half-assed early attempts at goal-seeking.)
Actually, rereading the roadmap, construction doesn't look like it has quite enough progress to make it in... The "Current Status" is kinda vague, and currently caps the entry off with Currently we plan to implement construction after the implementation of vehicles.

I thought yoshi was already essentially working with the OHD vehicle system. the only thing they needed to work on was fixing turrets

I don't think it's been enabled in public builds
and i don't see anything in devbuild that leads me to believe it's enabled there either
i don't know what kind of project access yoshi has as part of his developer contract with drakeling labs, I assume he has access to the plasticscm tree as the other devs do, and could, in theory look at their work trees that havn't been checked into the branch that devbuild's automation publishes to steam automatically every few hours with.
but as far as I'm aware, yoshi's mod contains a bunch of Vigilante models (free, from the unreal asset marketplace) and his own work in unreal Blueprints stitching them into the OHD environment, using the default unreal physics and network replication (for the most part), other than the helicopter. Not sure if he pulled a flight controller from elsewhere or opencoded his own shot at it in blueprint (I assume the latter)
OHD's vanilla vehicles were developed in house by drakeling labs, code, models, animations, rigging.
when that code releases, yoshi should have a relatively easy time reimporting the Vigilante assets on top of the new blueprints, and fixing up the rest of his to live on top of the new stack, removing bits that are no longer needed because they live in vanilla now, rewriting/regraphing some that don't.
OHD definitely will not include the vigilante assets
and in general, refuses to accept anything developed third party at this point in development

"find best load order" will generally put vehicles at the bottom

I wouldn't reduce the number of people in the squad because there will only be 2-person squads and if you want to do your own thing, you won't be able to do it
in the new version of the mod, when there are few people on the server, there is an option to turn off these restrictions

as an admin, you can kick out someone who has a one-man squad, and it's not okay to do that either, as a regular player you don't have this option and you will be forever asking people to remove squads

yeah, you can disable vehicle spawning entirely with a mapsettings checkbox right now

So far, the only idea that comes to my mind is that the squad leader could have a heli (huey) if he had at least 7 people in the squad and see how it will work in regular servers.
yeah that might be best, keep apache and ka admin spawn only but huey shouldnt cause chaos

I mainly just want the Transport Heli not attack, and spawn 1 for each team, the community is loving it right now, just sucks I cant have one on auto-spawn for each team you know

I have just been swapping teams right now and spawning one and some players specifically want to fly it others just want to ride in it for fun they love it
I think that autospawning per team is a bad idea because they will fight over this heli. What I proposed seems better to me and then they will be forced to create squads

Oh yea they tried stealing it and I just keep respawning it to get the right person in it, but better then no heli's on the map
They do bigger squads then 7 when they what, I've seen it a thousand times
People don't even know how to place FOBs/Rallys let alone trying to get one of them to spawn a Heli for themselves, the issue is the game doesn't force you to join a squad
But most of the time the Squad leaders arent anything serious
