yeah, everybody hates how unreal editor does things. There's literally three copies of damn near everything and anything.
The raw copy that the devs imported of the resource, a cooked copy, and then a cached copy. UnrealEd's cache is like 33GB (and we push it with the download, otherwise it can take two days to generate/regenerate)
we could knock the download from 90GB down to 60GB by ditching the cache, but unreal would just regenerate it, so the space used wouldn't change, you'd have to wait after downloading, and it then becomes dependant on slurping your PC resources for two days while it rebuilds world+dog.
not exactly the experience we want to encourage lmfao

it's whole purpouse was allowing people to get flight time practice outside of the supporter-only playtest server.
so that when bluedork DOES go to make a video, everyone who participates isn't wasting half the limited playtest time crashing all over the place trying to learn to fly
they'll be crashing all over the place trying to do stupid tricks instead.
that should make for much better b-roll, I hope...
(but with a major bug like a hoverboat, I'll just wait for yoshi to push another update in some hours/days.)

so far doesn't look like it's crashing from a memory leak (typical usage appears to be around 1.2GB)

What if it worked like this? Lazing a target creates an icon in 3d space for whoever is manning the cannon.
The cannon operator will move the crosshairs over to the laze icon and then press a hot key which would lock the ranging into the current distance of the helicopter from the laze target.
It wouldn’t update the range automatically so the helicopter would have to stay still in order to keep its ranging and there would be a 5 sec or so cooldown on aquiring a new ranging to prevent from just spamming the hot key to continuously have perfect ranging.
This way it works with multiple possible lazed targets in case you have ground forces lazing targets as well

Also? The thing I'd like to see most is more map settings and if possible, toggles and switchies for all the minor rule tweaks.
