Steam might limit this, but I agree. Steam is just so ubiquitous and trusted by so many users it makes sense to have something like this. I think 'name your price' might work well too, but I dont think ive ever seen that on Steam nor have I seen the Patreon like options like this. It was also kind of pain for them to set this up to begin with, so even if it possible, it could be a nightmare that's just not worth it right now.
