#Lightweight map editor (Like Hammer for CS:GO)

65 gb actually
65 GB is like AAA last gen release still
Just for map making
For reference, Hammer Map Editor is 237KB.
It includes all the assets man
So does the hammer editor
If the solution to reducing map editors size is to ship it with the game, why not ship it with the game, since it has all the assets already?
💀
Ok but pretty sure its different
Thats why
Because its ancient
Source games are small
Not 237KB small
wouldnt work as they cant put the ue4 sdk on steam]
65gb isnt that much especially when hdds are cheap
or a 256gb ssd
Yeah you can get a 5 tb one for less then 200 dollars on amazon
Only thing is loading will be kinda shitty
I mean, its a very crude solution
65gb sdk is a crude solution?
yes
how tho?
How its not?
becuase its the games SDK
SDKs are usually larger than 65gb afaik
and in the SDK you can do pretty much whatever you want with enough knowledge of ue4
dont get me wrong, a small map editor just for making fairly basic maps would be cool
Yeah and it literally has all the content of the actual vanilla game
Thats basically the suggestion
I expect that would take alot of work though
Just for you to use in mods
yeah i know. just saying you can get the SDK and do a whole lot more than just a map editor
fair enough
I have the SDK and all ive been doing is making some basic maps and its fairly simple once you know a couple basic things
Imagine how small the hammer community would be if hammer took the same amount of space as the CS GO and required download from a site instead of being included in the vanila game package
yeah me neither thats why i dont know lol
same for me i think. i rarely buy games and when i do they are always either cheap or on sale for 20ish$ or lower
Nah, I just heard that it was moddable and my mapmaking roots said "try it"
yeah i think its defintely worth downloading the sdk
Its a combination of being free + promotions + "hey, maybe you can vary your hobby a bit"
idk if/when a map editor would be made but im sure that would be a low priority feature
things like cheat prevention tools and vehicles are more important
AC is an arms race against windmills
didnt mean anti cheat specifically
meant cheat prevention stuffs
anti cheat wont do a whole lot
If it is really that moddable, maybe we will see an extraction gamemode eventually
