Betratchus, Terror of the Void

Symbol/Terrible Ability: Calamity
Betratchus causes chaos through the void to spill around him, causing a variety of effects that are unpredictable and disturbing. The closer you are to him, the more this chaos can affect you... Around him, all is wrong, and the world tears itself apart.

Terror Items:
Smeltistopheles' Staff: A staff that enhances his magical and void capabilities, with the central eye of a beholder within it's center. Cones of anti-magic, eyebeams, as well as general void spells are all possible through the staff...
Meticulous Eye of the Void: Gives Betratchus a number of different types of vision, and allows him to slow down his perception of the world and copy things. Lastly allows access to numerical values of his opponents...
Robes of the Ever Dark: A defensive robe (like the robe of the Archmagi + Robe of Eyes) which also controls Betratchus' Terrible Ability, Calamity.

Disc:
His family was destroyed by the All God when he dared to push human understanding past what the All God gave humanity. To further punish him, the All God banished him from the material plane, sealing him away in the Void for a thousand years. This however, was a big mistake. Betratchus managed to survive the anti-reality that was the Void, and learned from it. Grew from it. When he grew strong enough, he returned to the material plane, strong enough to gather forces that would nearly kill the All God. In addition to being a master of the arcane, Betratchus is a skilled manipulator of the Void, utilizing it's many colors of reality distortion to break the material plane with each step he takes. The power of chaos lies under his control, magic yields at his gaze, and gods tremble if his wrath is focused on them. His multitude of magical abilities, and unnatural powers, as well as vast intellect, make him one of the most dangerous forces Valtra... no, the universe, has ever known.

Muearteas, Terror of Undeath

Symbol/Terrible Ability: Soul
Muearteas' soul is indestructible. You might not think the behemoth has a soul, but he most definitely does. Death won't accept it, and in material terms, the thing is harder than Adamantine. Because of it's properties, Muearteas' soul can always find a way to grow or take a new body if his current one dies. Even effects that'd normally erase a soul, like a Nightwalker's Death Aura, are incapable of leaving a scratch on the vengeance driven energy that powers the barbarian.

Terror Items
Sword of Orcus: A sentient blade that started Muearteas down the road he's on now, this giant great sword crafted by Orcus himself is capable of turning almost anything it slays into undead. What's more, the blade's necromantic energies can flood into it's wielder, making them faster, stronger, and much more deadly.
Crown of the Deathlord: The Crown of the Deathlord is a symbol that Muearteas is the Terror of Undeath. The dead abide his commands and are strengthened in his presence, and the crown allows him to focus his internal willpower and drive into heavier blows with any of his attacks.
Dem Tod Nahe War Paint: Muearteas' old tribe, the Dem Tod Nahe, had one man who was in charge of the living and the dead. In battle, he'd show his true power by wearing this war paint, which gave him benefits the closer to death (and true balance) he was...

#

Disc: Once a proud member of the Dem Tod Nahe tribe, Muearteas respected the laws of life and death, as his people had done for generations. The Dem Tod Nahe, or just Nahe for short, understood that life and death was a cycle to not be disturbed. The Deathlord was chief of the tribe, and it was a title Muearteas achieved when he reached adulthood. Nothing bad came of it, in fact, he was arguably one of the best Deathlords the tribe had ever seen. But chaos has a way of altering things, and Muearteas happened upon a blade that connected him with Orcus...

It was through this connection that Muearteas realized that Life and Death could best be balanced through the undead! What better way to have balance, than to have a little of both! But when he brought these ideas to the tribe, the ideas were shut down. Muearteas tried to get the tribe to see things the way he was seeing them now, but they wouldn't listen... The arguing and back and forth between the Deathlord and his tribe brought the attention of the All God, who quickly realized the spread of Orcus' influence. And though the tribe was working through the problem on their own... He wiped them off the map with hardly a thought, just to be safe.

Now despite the conflict, the Deathlord Muearteas still cared for his tribe. He might've even backed down for them. given up on the ideas. But when the energy hit, and the god's light destroyed everything his tribe ever knew... There was no turning back. Watching his tribe get destroyed hardened his soul, and sent him on a path of vengeance so powerful it gave him everlasting strength. Between his connection to life and death, his unwavering drive, and the blade of Orcus as well as the items of his tribe, he's virtually immortal and has strength that no other living being on Valtra could ever hope to achieve.

Dracula, Terror of Blood

Symbol/Terrible Ability: Love
Dracula's ability is Love, represented by a constantly flowing source of magical blood within his body. This blood isn't his, but rather the blood of his late lover that he drained thousands of years ago. His wife's love still flows through that blood, and thus it has a mind of it's own, protecting Dracula with everything it has and enhancing his attack power with certain abilities. The blood also grants Dracula a second life, as in the event something kills him, his wife's energy will die in his place instead. This is a fact that he's not yet discovered...

Terror Items
Bloodwell Vial: A small vial surrounded by a small silver raven's head always sits around Dracula's Neck. This vial is filled with enchanted blood, which helps him focus his Sanguimancy.
Golden Mask of Dracula: A golden mask that Dracula often doesn't wear, as it's purpose is to protect him in the daytime should the need arise. The mask itself is golden, with a red stone on its forehead. Should a living creature don the mask and coat it with blood, the mask magically transforms them into a vampire through an excruciating process. If Dracula is present, he's also capable of turning the new vampire into a loyal servant through his magic.
Dracula's Fang: A long golden blade who's edge seems to be unfinished. Though Dracula is more of a spellcaster, he weaves through battle collecting blood with the magic of this blade to use in his spells. The sword gets longer with each drop of blood that hits it's beautiful blade, and some say it can whisper truths from the ones it slashes...

Background: Long ago, a rich noble, Count Vlad Dracula, lived a good life. He had money, power, worked hard for it too. His life was set, the land was safe. Paradise, forever vacation, retirement, whatever you want to call it, he had it. But there was always something missing from this man. And he soon came to realize that it was love. Love had yet to find itself in his life.

Now, the All God wrote the stories of every living being on Valtra back during this time of old. And seeing the lack of an interest in Dracula's life, he wrote the man a perfect lover that would keep the order of the land, and not cause any turmoil. Afterall, Dracula kept chaos at bay with his fair laws and goodwilled nature, a little bit of story editing was a good reward for the noble.

The new chapter began, and Dracula met a kind and beautiful woman who's name has since been lost to time. And at first Dracula was delighted, it was something that hadn't happened ever. Perhaps his luck, his life, was turning around. But it didn't take long for him to realize that, despite this wonderful woman, he still didn't feel.

One night he chose to walk the streets of his town, and passed by a tavern of some kind, and caught wind of a beautiful sound within. A song the likes of which he'd never heard before. The noble was swift to investigate, and upon entering the tavern, observed the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. He doubted he'd ever seen the individual in town before, and was awestruck by her and her voice.

When the show was over, he introduced himself, and one thing led to the next. Rika, he learned her name was, Rika Raven. The two fell for each other, and within a few weeks they each realized they'd met the person who could make them happiest. But one individual was not happy. See, the All God went through all the effort of changing the story for Dracula, and yet, something caused him to veer of script. This out of towner, this... entity of chaos, the All God decided.

#

He needed to fix things, or else Chaos might take over this nice and orderly town. The All God determined Dracula was far too in love with this Rika to see reason, and to be allowed to maintain his town any longer. So, late one night, when the moon was high, the All God cursed Dracula to fix this issue. He cursed him to forever dwell in the dark, to become a creature without humanity for defying the All God's wishes. That night Dracula turned into a vampire. That night, Rika was found dead, her body lacking 80% of it's blood.

The All God after settling this curse took his attention away from this town and onto another. He did this, and didn't notice the fact that Dracula survived the sun that the God confidently thought would destroy him later. See, what the All God didn't know, was that despite the curse, and despite the horror, Rika still loved Dracula with all her heart. She knew deep down, he wasn't responsible. And she swore to help him get back to normal, even if that cost her her life.

Her devotion protected Dracula from the sun, bestowing upon him his Terrible Ability: Love. And with this survival, Dracula became hateful toward the laws of the universe. To the All God. He swore vengeance, and some day, that vengeance will be fulfilled...

#

Abilities: Dracula is a powerful force to be reckoned with, being the 3rd strongest Terror. He's studied the lengths of his curse greatly, and through this study awakened his internal magic, mostly geared toward arcana... but more importantly, Sanguimancy. Dracula can control blood of almost any kind, and uses it in his spells regularly. Lighting blood on fire, shaping it to create weapons or obstacles, and firing it at speeds fast enough to punch through even the strongest armors are just some of the uses of his blood craft. Being a vampire, his physical strength, speed, and agility are heightened, and he holds an impressive mind and charisma to back his body up. He's a master of shadows, knowing when to strike at the right time, and if you are so much as cut by him in any way, you're already in greater danger than before.

His Terrible Ability also makes him nearly impossible to hit, as the magic blood of his late lover automatically defends him against any and all threats. Unfortunately, the power of a vampire still comes with it's weaknesses. The sun is deadly to Dracula, as well as flowing water, and he can't enter places without permission first. Despite this, his capability to create armies of vampire soldiers to do his bidding was a valuable asset in the great war back a thousand years ago.

Diamodus, Terror of Demons

Symbol/Terrible Ability: Cacodemon
Diamodus' ability is Cacodemon. Depending on his power level, Diamodus is capable of copying certain abilities from fiends. This isn't the ability's origin, however. Cacodemon's actual ability is that of a silver tongue. It's true form is emblazoned on Diamodus' tongue, the infernal symbol for the word colored a fiery orange. Cacodemon allows Diamodus to say all the right things in order to get what he wants. It makes his voice silky smooth, his tone all so comforting and trustworthy. Most importantly, it makes it nigh impossible to tell if he's ever lying.

This silver tongue of his is an demonic gift from the material of the Chaos Lands of Old, and as such, predates even some of the oldest demons. It's because of this that it has a secondary ability, the one mentioned earlier, to copy certain fiendish capabilities. Diamodus typically/ideally holds the charms and seductive power of a Succubus, the constitution and physicality of a Balor, and the magical immunities of a Rakshasa.

Terror Items
Demonomicon of Evil: What could be referred to as the Bible of Evil, the Demonomicon of Evil is a leather bound book of vileness, detailing the horrid and bone chilling acts of the fiends in the old world. This book has information on hundreds of individual fiends, and bestows Diamodus with the ability to call demonic allies and ensnare souls to feed his power...
Armor of the Eight: Armor made of Abyssal metal, this armor is bestowed with a gift from each of the eight demon lords. Each gift grants a use of a special ability that aid Diamodus in combat, not to mention it's enchanted nature makes it much more protective than normal armor...
*Heart of the Old Gods:*A heart bound to the Abyss, filled with the energies of the days before the All God. This heart gives Diamodus' spellcasting a boost, as the infernal blood that's pumped through him increases his resolve and religious strength.

Background/Personality

Before the All God landed on the planet Valtra, Chaos rolled across the lands, shaping them as it pleased. In this Chaos, there was one notable ruling force, demons. Evil creatures, by our standards, capable of surviving in the destructive nature of Chaos, and with a particular desire to destroy order. Humans did exist during these times, and coexisted with the demons, devils, and other fiends that existed... somewhat.

When the All God came to Valtra, he saw the Chaos and grew attached to humans, and as such, decided to "fix" everything. Wiping out civilization of demons with his divine power, destroying the world as it was, and reshaping it in his image. Humans were suddenly altered, and the Abyss was created to trap the fiends. Very few remember this day, but among those few, was Diamodus. Diamodus saw the destruction. Despite the brutality of the demonic world, especially to his kind, felt anger at this All God for coming down and changing what'd been a perfectly acceptable life. To Diamodus, the All God did nothing less than steal his planet away, and banish the people who it belonged to...

Diamodus was one of the few humans that remained un-altered by the All God's power, and thanks to this he managed to amass a following, worshipping the demons of the time before the All God. Worshipping those they'd come to know as the Old Gods, or as we may call them now, the Demon Lords of the Abyss. Diamodus has spent thousands of years slowly amassing a cult that spreads worldwide. His unnatural charisma makes others join his cult, without realization of it's true nature until it's too late. Those he can't persuade to his side, are simply not fit for the new world, and burn...

#

He's charismatic, even able to make Demons and Devils work together with his words. Excitable, beautiful, calm, unwavering. And he is wise, recognizing concepts and truths that many could hardly begin to understand... He keeps a calm exterior, but is quick to anger, should you insult the objects of his worship or the people of the old age...

dim tusk
# dim tusk **Background/Personality** Before the All God landed on the planet Valtra, Chao...

Abilities:

Diamodus, as the 4th strongest Terror, is definitely no pushover, despite being the cleric of the crew. His unwavering religious resolve and supernatural charisma unlock the potent magic that the Old Gods grant him, allowing him to manipulate Abyss Flame and use many demonic abilities.

His faith is strong enough to heal wounds, protect allies, and incinerate infidels who would dare mock or disregard his worship. Physically, he's not very strong, but thanks to typically having the internal body of a Balor, he's got a wealth of constitution. To make matters worse, fire blood runs through his veins, so if he is knocked unconscious, a powerful explosion occurs, potentially wiping out any would be Diamodus slayers.

With his Terrible Ability, he can often come up with the words to stop a fight from starting in the first place, which makes it even more difficult to actually fight the cleric.

Shadius, Terror of Shadows and Darkness

Symbol/Terrible Ability: Balance
Shadius' terrible ability is Balance. He can balance reality, ensuring that two sides have equal power, so to speak. If there is too much light in an area, for instance, he can create darkness to counter it. Likewise, if an enemy has minions or some ability tipping the scales in their favor, Shadius can get stronger to counter that. There is a limit to this ability, Shadius can only get so strong, but for most non-deities it proves more than enough.

Terror Items
Umbra Blades: A set of blades, one made of light, and the other dark. They allow Shadius to harness his balance capabilities, and deal more damage with their radiant/necrotic aspects. They can also be transformed to suit almost any combative need Shadius encounters.
Gloves of Silence: Due to the noise in the world, Shadius wears Gloves of Silence to balance things. These gloves allow Shadius to touch objects or creatures, and make them unable to emit or transmit sound... perfect for a stealthy kill.
Cloak of Shadow Mimicry: A cloak made of shadows, the Cloak of Shadow Mimicry lets Shadius mimic the shadows themselves and even step through them. With this cloak, nobody can escape his balance.

dim tusk
# dim tusk **Shadius, Terror of Shadows and Darkness** **Symbol/Terrible Ability: Balance*...

Background/Personality

Shadius is the son of Cramus, and brother of Muearteas. Being the son of the God of Balance, Shadius always felt an urge to keep things balanced. He grew up with the unending feeling that things had to be perfectly balanced, with either both sides of an equation in equilibrium, or things made entirely gray.

These feelings were often very uncontrollable. Shadius' need to fix things, to make things balanced, outweighed any other feelings in his mind. One thing bothered him most of all. Since humans adapted to using fire and light sources, there was too much light in the world. And not enough darkness.

Shadius asked Cramus about this, and begged him to help him realign things. And while Cramus understood Shadius' view point and wanted to help, the All God overheard everything, and realized Shadius' mind was not where it should be as a demigod. Without Cramus' approval, the All God took action to prevent chaos from infecting the ranks of the gods, and banished Shadius to the depths of a great mountain.

Shadius didn't know what he'd done wrong, only that one minute he was talking with his dad, and the next he was rocketing through stone, and then trapped in the dark. And in the dark he stayed. For hundreds of years. Until finally, the mountain fell... and he was released.

While not malicious, Shadius desperately wants to restore balance to the world, and doesn't really have any other goals beyond that. If he gets the chance, he tries to teach the ways of balance, but that comes more as a side effect and less a goal. Personality wise, he's rather quiet and uninterested in things that are outside his goals. He speaks with a deepish voice, and nobody's actually seen his face, if he has one...

#

Abilities

Outside of his Balance ability, Shadius has masterful control over the dark. Having spent so much time underground fused the shadows with his demi-god body, making him a formidable foe already.

He can conjure spheres of darkness, teleport between shadows, and use other's shadows against them. As well, he's an extremely capable fighter, with every one of his attacks capable of being a devastating blow if the conditions are correct.

He's also rather fast, moving quickly and making decisions quicker. Other than this, there isn't much else he does. He's simple, just like balance, and effective.

@buoyant narwhal

Some context. The universe follows a rule of four in my world. A rectangular rule of four, the Golden Ratio.

The Golden Ratio makes up basically everything as a whole. And it has four sides, Order, Chaos, Time, and Fate (also described as Attraction or Gravity).

The forces of Order gave rise to beings known as Gods, at least that's how we'd know them as. All Gods, Prime Deities, they're the "good" eldritch horrors you could say.

Their purpose, so they feel with their immense power, is to make the universe straight. They believe, due to being all powerful, than everything is in their hands to control. They make worlds, they get entertainment, kinda deal.

One of those is The All God, who took over a planet called Valtra, the main world of my campaign

#

Valtra was already populated, contrary to popular belief, the All God didn't create humanity, and just warped it in his image

#

They couldnt' really do anythign about it, history was changed, and the All God now had his own "living tv show" to watch.

The thing is that despite being an ultrapowerful deity, he's still prone to humanish thinking. He's not exactly omnipotent. And he's All Powerful... in context to all the other living beings. He's basically the equivalent of a movie director or book author. More accurate comparison, a mangaka, since my campaign takes a very animanga esc style.

#

Long story short, he's prone to making mistakes. Being an entity of Order, his enemy is Chaos. So he does his best to patch up anything that could influence Valtra into Chaos.

The thing is, doing this hurts human (general term for humanoids...) lives. And that's how the Twelve Terrors came about.

Twelve different cases of the All God not paying attention or screwing up, doing his best to patch up the "Chaos Leak" (not that there's anything bad with chaos, it's just the opposite of everything the All God is made out of), and that creating enemies.

#

Each of the Twelve are Chaos touched in some way. Broken puzzle pieces to the tapestry the All God wove when he took over Valtra. And as one could guess, none of them like that.

They ultimately believe that the All God, and any other gods really, are cruel beings who puppet humanity for the sake of their entertainment (which isn't all that off). So they're whole thing is trying to

A. Reset the universe to which divine power doesn't have any holding, and the natural forces of the Golden Ratio all mix together in perfect but hectic balance.
B. Kill the All God because he's wronged every single one of them in some way.

#

the main one, Betratchus, probably had it the worst. But all of them have some kind of event they can blame the All God for that ruined their lives.

#

I can elaborate more but that's the gist of it, if I haven't forgotten anything ^^

buoyant narwhal
dim tusk
# buoyant narwhal Would you mind elaborating on hiw the All-god wronged each terror/each terror's ...

Of course!

There's twelve of them, so it'll be brief, ish

Betratchus was created as the "first" and most "ideal" human. The equivalent of a renaissance man. His actual given name is Adam, and his wife (As the ideal man has a family) was named Eve. He was molded with the trait to always search for knowledge, in order to grow the understanding of magic and the world.
What ended up happening with him was... he discovered chaos. And was actually capable of using it.

The All God panicked at the potential breach, and intended to essentially smite Betratchus and his family (due to fear of it spreading), but due to the touch of Chaos, the All God didn't realize Betratchus wasn't in his home when he blasted the place off the map. Betratchus was forced to watch as his entire life was incinerated.

The All God realized his mistake, and him and Betratchus fought for a bit (An angry Betratchus, who earned the title of Ultramage, was capable of keeping up), before Betratchus was nearly killed and had to flee... to the Void, a large part of Chaos. He spent time there, became one with The Void, and later came back to Valtra to kill the All God, and collected the rest of the Terrors when he did.

# dim tusk ***Muearteas, Terror of Undeath*** **Symbol/Terrible Ability: Soul** Muearteas'...

Muearteas is actually a Demigod, the son of the God of Balance, Cramus. He was born into a tribe that focused on the balance between life and death. Muearteas got the idea that the perfect balance would be a mix of the two, Undeath. This alone wasn't a bad thing, as the Deathlord, lead of the Tribe, was an undead individual. But Muearteas believed that all creatures should become Undead, as it would bring perfect balance and happiness across all.

Such mass necromancy was considered Chaos by the All God, especially since the actual source of these ideas was the Demon Lord Orcus (One of the original "gods" of Valtra, he left his sword behind before he was locked away by the All God, and Muearteas found it and came to these ideas after he did), and the All God decided the tribe was a risk he wasn't willing to take, and also wiped them off the map.

Muearteas managed to survive through both luck and the power of the sword he found, and he swore to kill the All God at any cost. His anger makes him immortal. An upticked Revenant.

Dracula fell in love with someone he shouldn't have, as it was against the All God's script.

This is due to a small piece of fate slipping from the all God's grasp.

The All God decided to have fun with this one, and turned Dracula into the first vampire so he'd kill the woman he loved. He gave him the weakness of sunlight so the sun would erase him with it came time, but he didn't realize that Dracula's wife's love was so strong, it materialized as an entity that protected Dracula from the sun long enough for him to survive...

Fu-Tan was also touched by a Demon Lord, Zuggmatey. Don't have them fully set up yet, but the same idea as Muearteas. They saw the world differently and were punished instantly for it.

#

Sevanus is a group of fairy tales that the All God forgot about. Each themed after a sin.

Alustus was created accidentally, and thus didn't fit in the world. His music tore up reality. When he asked for help, the All God tried to erase him, but that failed...

Triten I don't have full figured out either. He doesn't have feelings though. Something related to that.

Onolia was born as the first Oni, the All God never acrisllt did anything to her directly, but she blames him for her messed up child hood, where her dad forced her into the military at a young age due to being a monster.

The All God later came down and had to try and stop her, because she started things that went against his vision.

Sherlas is an Archdevil that escaped from the Nine Hells, no real sad backstory, he just likes to hunt.

The Hive is actually an entity from another world. They're a replicated broken part of the code that makes things up? Haven't detailed them fully yet either.

Maybe!

I should have specified, he doesn't feel things unless they're happening to somebody else. One of my thought processes was the idea that he was created in tandem (as an accident) with a Solar, whom the All God later sent to kill Triten due to Triten not being intentional.

Triten's inability to feel makes him cruel. He's a masochist and a sadist, enjoys the feeling of pain but has to cause it in others in order to truly feel it for himself. That's probably another reason the All God tried to get rid of him.

Triten is definitely the least sympathizeable of the Terrors. He's the "bastard villain" if youw ill

Are they (in general) the antagonists because of how they go about achieving their goal, or is their goal gonna inherently make the world worse? Or is there a different reason?

dim tusk
# buoyant narwhal Are they (in general) the antagonists because of how they go about achieving the...

So, the funny thing is the answer is kind of, yes

They're antagonists because of how they go about achieving their goal for the most part. Betratchus doesn't target civilians, for example, but if one got in the way, he feels he has no choice but to just continue moving. He doesn't want to cause unnecessary conflict, but doesn't stray from anything that has to be done.

Most of the other terrors do stray to be more evil. Overall their mentality is "If the world won't accept us the way we are, why should we show it respect", so they're on a general basis not overly caring about people and how they achieve their goals. Esspecially the likes of Fu-Tan, Muearteas, and Triten.

Their overall goal is to make the world better, the issue is making the world better on a large scale looks really bad on the small scale. The world's lived under the control of Order for thousands and thousnands of years, if Order lost control, to everyone, it'd get a lot worse. But overall... it's technically more equal and better.

The other reason they're aintagonists is mostly because, The All God painted them as such. He's twisted the stories about them, wrote history in a sense that they appear as the bad guys. My players see through most of it, but they're still gunning to kill them because of what they're doing, which is what the All God wants. Later I intend to make it known that it was the All God's spark (The thing that makes them so powerful) that led them to killing the Terrors, or in other words, the All God's script for each and every one of them

Fu-tan, Terror of Rot and Decay

Symbol/Terrible Ability: Necrosis
All creatures on the planet of Valtra, esspecially those with the Spark, are long past their due with death. Those who attack Fu-Tan are instantly reminded of this fact, and are struck by a violent contagion that can both halt their attack, and lead to terrible disease later. Effects include blinding, fever, rot, migranes, seizures, and/or slime...

Terror Items
Staff of Rot: Those who touch this staff instantly find their natural process of aging and death sped up. With this Staff, Fu-Tan can speed up rotting, and wither the bodies of others...
Armor of the Fungus Queen: This armor grants Fu-Tan protection through rapidly growing and impact absorbing mushrooms on his body.
Mushroom Crown: This crown allows Fu-Tan greater fine control over spores, mushrooms, and the forces of rot and decay. It also strengthens him, as it strengthens the very fungi that keep him alive...

Background
A long long time ago, Fu-Tan was a normal human living in the village of Newh Jersahy. He was an avid nature man, in touch with the forces of the world, and enjoyed going on hunting trips with his father while his mother stayed behind to keep the house in check.

One fateful day, the smell of smoke alerted both Fu-Tan, who's actual name at the time was Zeke, and his father... they rushed back home, having spotted a terrifying elemental beast rampaging in the woods. Only to find that it got there before they could. They fought... and Zeke managed to kill the beast, but not before it ended his mother.

Now, the All God wrote this entire story, for his intention was for the Fire Beast to instead take Zeke as a host, which would allow a number of things to happen in the All God's favor. He didn't expect the beast to be slain. Zeke, drifted off his course.

Something thanks to subtle influence from one of the old gods... Zuggtmoy, Demon Lord of Decay. The Demon Lord gave Zeke the truth of the world, and tought him that death was not something to be reversed, something Zeke... who'd adopt the name Fu-Tan, would take to heart very dearly.

Despite this belief, he wasn't inclined to not take revenge, and began a long conquest to both kill the All God, and those who extrended their life unatrually. Of course, there is irony, as Zuggtmoy's own influence keeps Fu-Tan's life longer and longer than it should... in a demented and rotting way...

Now a thousand years later, Fu-Tan watches the world, ready to spread a new deadly pestilance. But one thing bothers him... another Zeke moving about. A Zeke, that followed the All God's script. A clone... a copy... a counter...

Abilities
Fu-Tan's abilties are that of Air and Earth, but twisted into demonic like spellcasting. He control's toxins, pestilence, disease, and all sorts horrible forces, all to send the living to the grave where they rightfully belong. His presense poisons and withers the land and those living in it, and those who die to his onsloughts may very well find their bodies becoming host to new fungi, adding to Fu-Tan's forces.

Fu-Tan also has a great connection to earth, and could be considered the equivilant of a master earth bender. With waves of his hand, mass graves are instantly formed, and even miniature mountains can be thrown out of the earth. He has a number of special spells that he himself created, including Acidic Rain, Earthen Coffin, Sporeful Hijack, and more...

Betratchus, Terror of the Void

Symbol/Terrible Ability: Calamity
Betratchus' terrible ability is Calamity. The true extent of this ability is largely unknown, but in general, one can consider it a twisted form of bad luck, or an aura of anti-everything. Depending on Betratchus' strength or emotional state, the world goes against itself in different ways around him, in an unspecified area of effect. The closer an object or person is to Betratchus, the stronger Calamity will act upon them. In simplest terms, it is Chaos incarnate. True Wild Magic. A force directly counter to all we can understand. Acting as both a defensive and offensive power...

Terror Items:
Smeltistopheles' Staff: Made of Void Gold, this staff has the eye of Smeltistopheles contained within its head. Because of this, Betratchus can utilize an Anti-Magic cone, and store various magical energies within the staff, allowing him to cast a good many spells without depleting his own resources...
Meticulous Eye of the Void: Meticulously crafted, this Void Gold eye grants Betratchus a number of different visual senses, including True Sight, InfraRed, and X-Ray vision. The eye also is capable of reading information independantly of Betratchus, which makes quick information gathering easy. It's attention to detail is great enough that while in use, it's almost as if Betratchus can see the future, as he's able to predict his enemy's movements with an incredibly small margin of error.
Robes of the Ever Dark: A robe woven of pure Void, this robe helps Betratchus stay connected to the Void, and also strengths as well as helps him control his Calamity ability.

Background

Long long ago, the world was inhabited by Demons, Devils, and Humans. Valtra, thought it hadn't been called that yet, was it's own disc, flying about the cosmos... until a new force rose, and took the world for themselves, shaping it in their image. This being, this force, was the All God. He remade humans to be like him, locked the Demons and Devils in the Abyss and Nine Hells respectively, and created a planet of order.

One of the first true humans, and the first ideal human, he made, was Adam. In addition, his wife, Eve. Adam was created with the drive to further human intelligence, so he became the renaissance man of Valtra, exploring it all, understanding it all. He quickly rose above all else, growing to a length of arcane powers the world had never and will likely never see again.

#

But Adam's goal, bestowed upon him by god himself... backfired. As he found himself investigating an alien realm known as The Void. The Void, a force of Chaos and against the All God. Panicking, the All God reacted to stop this breach of Order, and attempted to destroy not just Adam but his family and any idea that he ever existed...

The All God managed to destroy everything... but Adam, who due to the research in the Void, was exempt from the All God's Divine Crosshairs. Adam had to watch as his wife and future were destroyed and burned. The feeling of hatred he felt after witnessing the event, would cool into an unwavering determination, and a realization that the world was not what it seemed.

Adam confronted the All God, and the two fought. Adam lost, but not before managing to evacuate to the Void that started this conflict. There... he slept. Then woke. Then learned. For years and years. His Terrible Ability awakened, he made friends, he learned and became a master of Inversion. And then... waged war against the All God across a thousand years upon his return.

When he returned however, he was no longer Adam, the ideal human. He'd changed. He'd become Betratchus, Master of Calamity...

Abilities

Betratchus is host to a number of different abilities. First and foremost, he's a master of utilizing Chaos and The Void. Specifically, Inverted Magic. Void Magic (Or Inversions) take form in nine different colors. Betratchus is capable of using them all.

Yellow - Negates magic (Betratchus' go to)
Red - Manipulates the Void itself, the most versitile.
Cyan - Alters numbers, typically reducing them (Example, reducing your Strength score to 0).
Blue - Brings things together (Fixing objects or instantly combining ingredients)
Purple - Tears things apart/Destroys them (The exact opposite of blue and most destructive)
Green - Multiplies/copies things
Pink - Manipulates reality (Can only alter things, doesn't create or destroy, just changes)
Orange - Enhances things
White - Swaps things (Teleportation of both physical things and concepts)

Betratchus' proficiency in these colors grants him the power to counter most entities of Order, and make him a ruthless individual to fight, as well as a confusing one. His time spent in the Void has enhanced his body as well. His raw strength is capable of rivaling some of the strongest gods, his reaction time and speed is nearly unparalleled, and his intellect and mental capability are second to none. He's a strategist first and foremost, and in conjunction with Calamity, is capable of planning to win days or weeks before a potential conflict.

#

Betratchus Infinite

His ultimate goal is to reset the universe, and in order to do this, Betratchus must collect the four sides of the universe, otherwise known as the Golden Rectangle, or the Golden Ration. Time, Chaos, Gravity, and Order.

Betratchus being an entity of Chaos already has Chaos. Additionally, he's recently aquired Time, allowing him control over the world's clock. Time Stop, Time Skip, Time Rewind, and a number of other time related abilities are all available to him, albeit with shaky reliability, as he's new to the abilities.

# dim tusk **Betratchus Infinite** His ultimate goal is to reset the universe, and in orde...

Order and Gravity (also known as Fate or Attraction) are ones Betratchus would need to collect in order to accomplish his goals.

In order to complete Order, he must have most if not all of the Schools of Magic under control. Doing so would make him an Ultramage again, complete control over the Weave.

Gaining Gravity would allow him to change fate, and unwind threads the All God writes. Not to mention, control Gravity itself.

Should he be able to gather each part of the Goldem Rectangle, he'll be able to completely understand and rewind the All God's hold on the world.

Betratchus Infinite would be able to alter the way universe works, and make every being free from Order's grasp once and for all.

The only downside...

Betratchus isn't powerful enough to actually utilize the Golden Ratio. And that's where the Terrors come in...

#

Over the course of the campaign, his Terrors, his family, must die, and pass on their power to him.

In order to activate Betratchus Infinite, and harness the Golden Ratio, he must lose everything he himself his fighting for.

Something he denies, but the other Terrors accept. And something he'll be forced to accept in the end of days...

buoyant narwhal
# dim tusk So wdyt about the hypothetical Azamoth vs Betratchus? I'm curious

It would end up being surprisingly balanced, considering Betrachus does counter Azamoth quite a bit. That and Betrachus being weaker (at least pre-infinite) means many of Azamoth’s most punishing Abilities won't work on him.

Comparing Arca Oblivia to Infinite, they're a bit less matched, with Arca having a decently large combat advantage, however Infinite does have 2 major advantages.

1: Time Skip. Although Arca Oblivia is quite a bit stronger, Skipping or changing time forward is something it cannot do or compete against, since the future doesn't exist in Azamoth's world.

2: Ultramage (I assume). It 1: is magic which is what actually damages Azamoth and it 2: has defensive spells. Ultramage Betrachus (if he uses D&D spells at least) would have higher durability, which means Azamoth would have to focus even more on attacking vs evading attacks.

Overall it would be a fun fight that I can see going either way. I'd be down to make a scene/heef comic for it if you would like to!

# buoyant narwhal It would end up being surprisingly balanced, considering Betrachus does counter ...

Betratchus is overall weaker than Azamoth, even with Infinite, the most he could do damage wise is split a moon? Maybe?

Azamoth definitely has a strength advantage, but Betratchus does have the durability to get hit with a lot. He's taken hits from The All God and I intend to describe those feeling like each knuckle is a planet...

I find it interesting that the future doesn't exist in Azamoth's world. Do you mean this like there's no predetermined fate? No capability to see the future?

And yeah, Ultramage basically gives Betratchus access to most if not all dnd spells. Which. Destruction wise? Only goes up to a meteor swarm. But utility and versatility wise? Cranks things up to a hundred.

And I'd definitely be down to collab, I think that'd be quite interesting. They both have solid cases to win against each other, could even do alternate endings 🤔

There is no predetermined fate, no capability to see the future. It isn't a concept even. There is only the Present, the Past and the Memories. The Past only goes to 10 seconds into the past, then events become Memories, which are no longer accessible to go back to. Aka you can only rewind time by 10 seconds.

What's interesting is that I do have a character who has a budget future sight - Katarina, the Aspect of Understanding, Divination and Sight. What she does is she can analyze 99% of the possible actions a being will take next and the chances they will take said actions

Sevanus, Terror of the Seven Deadly Sins

Symbol/Terrible Ability: Temptation
The challenge of sin, is temptation. Each sin of Sevanus bares a different tempting solution to all your problems. Succumb to that temptation, and you will be punished. Each sin has a different Temptation, and will be detailed later.

Terror Items:
The collective of Sevanus is unique when it comes to many things, but esspecially their Terror Items. The Rings of Sin each allow the associated sin to take on a physical form outside of Sevanus' body. There's a ring for each sin, so seven in total. Having all the rings means Sevanus acts at almost 100% power, and has full freedom to split into their Seven parts... While the rings themselves possess no incredible magic abililty, it's the freedom that they give Sevanus that makes them so dangerous.

Special Note:
Due to Sevanus being a collective, the format of this entry is going to be a little different. Background will be next, then a short breakdown of each of their forms.

#

Background:
When the All God first warped humanity into his image, humanity was, basically perfect. There were no flaws to humanity, and that... was boring. Without flaws, without tragedies, there was no point to watching humanity, the All God realized.

So with that realization, the All God wrote some new stories, picking seven close people to become the subjects of the seven stories. Each story warning against a fundamental sin of the universe, but also made to spread said sin in order to create conflict throughout humanity. Enjoyable, conflict.

With that, this group of seven would become the All God's first written stories. But being his first... well, there were bound to be issues. Specifically with how he wrote them, the stories themselves became vulnerable to chaos.

From the perspective of these seven friends, their lives which had once been perfect, got flipped upside down as each fell to a different temptation. But the influence of chaos, imbued them with power and understanding. The sins realized that this wasn't the way their lives were supposed to go, and it was only a new development that they faced the tragedies they were facing.

The sins were now monsters to humanity, spreading conflict and corruption wherever they went. And for what? No reason. There was no reason for them to be punished, or turned into these overarching beasts of temptation. This mindless control the All God displayed, was something the sins hated. And as such, they turned on him almost immediately...

Now, the chaos and nature of their stories have mixed throughout the years, forcing them to become one entity. Sevanus.

#

Sevanus Stage 1: The Golden Knight/The Sin of Greed

Due to the Sin of Greed being the head of the Seven Deadly Sins, it's their presence that most influences Sevanus' first form.

The Golden Knight is just Greed at the end of the day. And as such, this part will also be Greed's summary.

The Story of Greed:
Greed follows the story of King Midas. Once a royal, Greed's story started with a fey being asking for hospitality. Upon receiving it, the fey granted a wish for the royal, who decided (due to the All God's influence...) to wish for all they touched to be turned to gold.

This would quickly go from a blessing, to a heavy curse, however. As within days, Greed lost everything that ever mattered to them... lost to the petrification of their gold touch.

Abilities
Greed's touch turns objects and creatures into gold. The process is very quick, and only the strongest of men can resist it, if only for a little. In addition, stuff Greed turns to gold can be manipulated, as if by telekinesis. The control is quick and precise, allowing Greed to use ordinary items and weaponry as fast moving bullets, as well as a defensive force. Additionally, Greed has access to a magic vault, where they keep any treasure they've collected, as well as what remains of the statue of their long lost wife...

Terrible Ability: Temptation
Should anyone attempt to steal from Greed or anyone around Greed, the thief is turned to gold, whether or not Greed knew about the robbery or not. This does not effect the other Sins.

Split
The main factor of the Golden Knight form, if Greed is slain in this form, they come back to life, and in addition, Lust and Pride are released from the armor...

dim tusk
#

Lust

Coming from Greed, Lust is a cute but shy and remorseful girl. Due to reasons explained in a moment, the form pictured here is almost never seen. But should anyone see her true form, then that is what they'd see.

The Story of Lust:
Lust lived in the same old kingdom as Greed, and her tale revolves around her. While not royalty, she was a girl of higher standing, but struggled to marry off as her family wished due to her goatish features. All the other girls were prettier, hotter, or just better than Lust in some way or another.

A fateful night, Lust's household was visited by a mysterious Fey entity, who upon being given the treat of hospitality, decided to grant Lust a wish. To which Lust asked to be irresistible to men, that way she could marry and make her family proud.

But this momentary blessing twisted into a horrible curse, as all of mankind saught Lust's beauty. Except, not Lust's actual beauty. But a new power that she projected. She appeared as the desires of others, and now her true form, was lost to time...

Abilities
Lust isn't the most capable fighter, but her simple ability is very devastating. Those who see her, including those with magic senses such as True Sight, instead see their greatest desires. And should they fall to the temptation of said desires, chase Lust as a necessary object, only to have their minds snap, turning them into Lust's mindless thralls.

In addition to this, Lust has minor control over the force of desires of others, and can cause physical damage through emotional desires.

Terrible Ability: Temptation
As described, as it's almost her only ability, Lust appears as the desires of those who observe her. Anyone who falls for those desires becomes a mindless thrall under her control. Something she actively hates.

Split:
If Lust is killed, she comes back quickly, and Gluttony and Envy are released.

#

Pride

Coming from Greed, Pride is a flamboyant and confident man. But despite the outward appearance, hides a deep insecurity about his entire being...

The Story of Pride
Pride was another royal in the same kingdom as the rest of the sins. His story follows a similar path as the Emperor's New Clothes. Approached by a Fey who promised him clothes that can only be seen by the most intellectual of people, clothes that appeared drab and invisible to those who can be called fools.

The Fey was lying, but not wanting to let down his servants and subjects, Pride didn't make it known that he didn't see any clothes. Which led to him being ushered into the world, completely baren. All it took was the comment from one child to point out the foolishness of the entire crowd and Pride's court, to send his confidence plummetting...

Though no obvious wish was given, the Sin of Pride gave Pride the power of confidence. Detailed now...

Abilities:
Pride practices very flashy and distracting magic, and his presence demands attention. His core capablity is confidence. The more confident Pride is that he can do something, the easier that thing becomes, even on levels thought to be impossible. If he thought he could move a mountain, then he'd be able to move a mountain.

Unfortunantely, his self confidence and constant worrying about being embarrassed again gets in the way of that ability a bit... Luckily he has another advantage, his Peacock feathers. Filled with as much confidence as he has, Pride can manipulate all the feathers in his peacock tail individually, acting as weapons, a flying device, or some other ability...

Terrible Ability: Temptation
Those who succumb to Pride by either over boasting themselves or selfishly believing in only themselves, find themselves stripped of their possessions. Though temporary and rare, this ability can hurt quite a lot...

Split

If Pride dies, he comes back, and Sloth and Wrath are summoned with him.

#

Gluttony

Coming from Lust, Gluttony starts as a skinny pigman, but grows in combat to be a very giant force to deal with. While skinny, he kind of only oinks a bunch, but once he's fed, he speaks rather sophisticatedly.

The Story of Gluttony
Originally a peasant in the kingdom of the rest of the sins, Gluttony was invited by chance to a royal's party, who was known for sending invitations to random people of the lower class. Gluttony accepted, and during the party, displayed his fine cooking skills, which entertained the rest of the guests.

Seeing the amount of good living the royals had made Gluttony a bit jealous, and when asked about his sudden down mood, Gluttony explained how he wished he could have it all. The individual asking happened to be a fey, and decided to grant Gluttony's wish in return for a good meal, giving Gluttony access to the royal pantries.

Food for years in sight, instead of grabbing what he wanted, Gluttony started to scarf down anything he could, suddenly hit with a ravenous hunger. When guards showed up, Gluttony had eaten so much, that he couldn't run away, and got caught...

Abilities
Since being caught and eventually later escaping thanks to the powers that would develop, Gluttony gained the ability to eat everything, but never be satistfied. The scorn of the royals leeched into his appetite, and made it a magical curse. Gluttony could eat all, but nothing would ever fill him permenantly.

The more he eats, the bigger he gets for a short time, and the stronger he is. This also translates to his summonable pet Mimic, which gets as big as Gluttony does.

Terrible Ability: Temptation
Gluttony's presence makes others want to engorge themselves and only themselves. Should people fall for the temptation of self indulgence, they're suddenly influenced by a very heavy weight, and become unable to move. Additionally, he can make them act on their hunger... against allies.

dim tusk
#

Envy

Coming from Lust, Envy is a quiet tall snake scaled girl. Constantly in a mood of some kind, she keeps to herself... at least until she steals something she shouldn't.

The Story of Envy
Coming from a poor family in the kingdom of the rest of the sins, Envy had to steal to survive, snatching anything she could, but never more. For a while she was happy with what she had, as she didn't know anything else.

One day, a Fey entity ended up at their doorstep, asking for room and board for the night. Envy allowed him to take the night in their small place. As is the constant, due to their kindness, Envy was granted a wish. Over the course of the night, the Fey described all the wonderful things the higher ups of the city had, and naturally, Envy grew jealous. So when the wish was presented, Envy asked for the ability to steal anything she wanted.

The Fey granted the wish, but with such an ability, came the downside that tore Envy's life apart...

Abilities
Envy is a kleptomaniac, and instinctively steals basically anything. She's capable of stealing or copying anything, but the downside is, she can no longer create things herself. Nothing she does is original anymore, it's all stolen from something or somebody else.

While strong, the ability does leave her in a sour mood a lot of the time, due to the fact that she's not ever her own person anymore.

Terrible Ability: Temptation
While within range of Envy, it becomes easy to be tempted by jealously of the abilities and luck of others. Should one fall for this temptation, discord and conflict spawn, and the envious in question finds their bones rotting away...

#

Wrath

Coming from Pride, Wrath is a well spoken wolverine like fella, who's actually quite calm most of the time.

The Story of Wrath
Wrath was once a lawyer in the kingdom of the rest of the sins. Rather famous, he helped defend certain people in trial. He was always calm, always collected, no matter what was thrown at him during his job. But, one day, a particularly nefarious group found conflict with a man who'd later become Wrath's client.

This group during the trials and cases proved very difficult to work with, and dangerous. Things came to a head when there was an attempt on Wrath's life. He survived, thanks to some luck, but it shook him. Later that day, in his kindness, he'd offer to help a certain Fey fella with a room at his place. Wrath explained his predicament to the Fey, and as always, a wish was granted. Wrath wished he could deal with the group against him somehow and be done with the trail...

During the next meeting, Wrath found his anger less capable to be kept in check. And in the blink of an eye, the entire antagonizing group was dead... as well as his client and everyone else in the court house...

Abilities
Wrath developed the ability to tap into his wrath and become a firey raging monster. But he doesn't like doing that often, so he focuses on keeping as calm as he can, using an elegant weapon and precise fighting.

If he does turn to his monstrous Wrath form, he can control his bones to become spiky weapons of destruction, making him hard and painful to hit.

Terrible Ability: Temptation
It becomes easy for those in Wrath's presence to get overly angry. Should anyone fall to the temptation of Wrath, or attack someone who's done nothing in combat yet, they're turned into the very thing their heart represents. A dumb angry beast.

#

Sloth

Coming from Pride, Wrath is an adorable, slow speaking, and generally chill panda man. He's pretty nice, but displays quite the self-worth problem...

The Story of Sloth
In the same kingdom as the rest of the sins, Sloth was a soldier who specialized in long range combat. His skills were good enough that he was often hired to guard very specific locations from afar, as a mercenary one could say.

Sloth was a naturally gifted shooter, but didn't care much for fighting, or anything really. All he wanted to do was lie down with his little hobbies. One day, he was posted at an important building, on the look out for a specific gang of criminals. That day however, he was particularly tired and fed up with his job. He didn't want to be there at all, it was dangerous!

It was during his watch that a small Fey man suddenly appeared, and offered Sloth a solution to his dilemma. All Sloth needed to do was nap! It was a win win for Sloth, and with the promise that the Fey would be looking for intruders, Sloth took him up on the deal.

Unfortunately, watch was all the Fey did, and in his sleep, Sloth missed the enemy crew get to the target he was supposed to be protecting. Because of this, he was shamed by his unit, and now believes himself to be basically worthless, and stupid...

Abilities
Sloth's willingness to take the random nap spread to his abilities. He's a good shot, and has a number of abilities that allow him to slow down or stop enemies with his crossbow. Outside of that, he doesn't have much aside from his Terrible Ability...

Terrible Ability: Temptation
Those around Sloth feel his feelings of worthlessness and laziness. Should one decide to give in, a swift decent into sleep awaits...

Sevanus Stage 3: Terror of Sin

After achieving Stage 2 (All Sins split up), Sevanus becomes vulnerable. If all the sins are defeated, the energies coalesce into the final form, Sevanus.

This giant lanky armored paladin of the Seven Deadly Sins boasts all the abilities of the Sins, with the power levels skyrocketing. All together, they're a stronger and more compact version of the Collective, usually being manned by Greed, but sometimes the others take over for a minute or two...
