It's not uncommon for me to just be doing something else after lifting anchor and pointing the bow towards my destination, coming back ever so often to adjust course. So it's a bit underwhelming when the music dies down the moment I let go of the steering wheel. Maybe have the music keep playing for a minute or two more granted the ship is moving and I am on it

I think we should have a grace period where the music continues playing as long as your onboard your ship. once you leave, only then should the music fade.
