I've played ancestral ruins pretty frequently and enjoy the game mode overall. I have noticed two things that are consistent issues.

  1. Failed boosted drops for specific schools - the current supposedly boosted drop in my server is for summons. I am on Level 4 and went through two rounds without getting an option for summons in any manner. If summons is supposed to be a boosted drop rate, that should not happen. But what I have noticed is that the "new" schools are dropped much more frequently, almost in every opportunity - unless it is the school you are currently using. When it is supposed to be thunderbolt boosted, I will get every burn and iceblast available, but rarely thunderbolt. When is switches to burn, then I get the other two. There is certainly something wrong with the set-up.

  2. The second issue is that I frequently fail to get the promised number of selections after a victory. For instance, I can choose to play a boss that gives 2 drops and I only get 1 or a final stage boss that promises 3 drops and only get 2. I get at least 1 every time, but frequently fail to get all the multiple ones promised

I stand corrected; I finished Level 4 that was supposed to have summons blessing drops boosted and did not get 1 opportunity to select a summons blessing. I purposely went routes through expedition shops and even refreshed each one and not once was a summons blessing an option. Definitely broken gameplay. If it wasn't for the basic stat boost blessings, it would be impossible to pass Ancestral Ruins.

I did notice that the drops are stated as "a chance," so that part of the issue can be ignored.

Yeah, lot of things are not working properly in ancestral, and it s been raised the issue again and no proper response. It is what it is, I guess. For example, i have instances of having burn team with burn affix and the boss was getting electrocution and poison debuff. Also, with thunderbolt team, their affix is not working at all, almost 0 dmg to bosses. Idk, I hope they remove it in s3, bcoz it s not fun at all and it takes much time to complete it.

Regarding the problem you found in the Ancestral Ruins, it has been confirmed that there is no problem.

  1. The School is a probability-based boost and does not guarantee a reward.
  2. Clearance rewards are also described accordingly, and you can choose up to 3 Blessings.

So, there are 4 to 5 stages to each level. On each stage there 7 to 10 steps to the stage boss. I intentionally chose routes that gave me battles that dropped 2 blessings at least, as well as I stopped at the expedition store every time, refreshing the store with each stop. So, if I stopped twice at the store and received 2 blessings on the other 6 to 8 battles, I would have had 32 chances each stage to get 1 blessing from the boosted school. You take that times 5 stages and now you are looking at 160 opportunities and not 1 drop for the designted school. YET, in that playthrough, I received numerous drops of the S2 schools (burn, thunderbolt, iceblast). It is also worth noting that I did not receive the option to select any other of the schools either (poison, frost). This tells me that there is a clear issue with the implementation of the new schools into ancestral ruins blessing drops. So, please, do not brush it off to probability.

I'm not that far yet, and that should make a difference, but that still doesn't solve the issue. Based upon what is stated by the game, a certain school is to be boosted, but since the new season, the only schools boosted are the new ones. I do not receive (or very rarely) any of the old schools. That's the point. There should not be a complete playthrough where the boosted school does not drop once.

Ok, tried it again while still on the same boosted school (summons). The same result. Finished the level (4) with no drops for summons at any point. Also, there were no drops for wild, poison, dauntless, or frost. But there were drops for iceblast, burn, and thunderbolt, plus the more generic blessings (shield, stats, debuff, etc). This tells me the issue is with the implementation of the S2 schools cancelling out the drops of the S1 schools. There is no way that playing through twice would yield the same results.

When you are saying "level (4)", are you referring to the difficulties (as shown in the screenshot) or are you referring to the floor you are on in your run?

If it is the former, this might be normal. I believe there are restrictions on some levels that force specific blessings from schools.
For example, the first difficulty will only drop blessings from S2 schools, and so on.
It might only be after you reach the fifth difficulty that everything is dropping without restrictions.
