Retuning characters is necessary for the health of the game but drastically changing characters for the worst is a hard sell to the community. Nerfing one character only makes another composition overly represented in the Vortex. For example the current situation with Rook in season 3.

I would like to suggest another method to promote diversity in the Vortex besides Nerfing one character over another.

One, Increase the effectiveness of the weekly buff table, make them matter. Currently the only meaningful effect the Vortex Buffs have is making the top team better. For example, this Weeks buffs are basic attack damage increase, yet no Duantless team can compete with Wild. So please Increase the buffs so they actually promote different team composition.

Two, introduce negative effects too the weakly buff table. For example, Fire & Lightning take 50% increased damage like in the elemental Domains. Or
Give the boss certain immunities.

Finally, introduce Rarity limits in the vortex like in the “labyrinth” section of Fey-mender. For example, only two legendary characters. This one I think should be optional but have additional rewards associated with completing the restriction. Maybe like 50 additional Wrymarrow for achieving SSS with the restriction.

Another suggestion is to limit the number of individual character uses for the week. This can be titrated as the season goes to benefit natural team building progression that occurs during the season.

  • Phase I (1-4wk) Unlimited Character uses
  • Phase II (5-8wk) 4 Uses per individual character
  • Phase III (9-12wk) 3 or 2 Uses per individual character
