#Two Vortex Bugs

Bug #1 (likely visual):
The Vortex boss should be immune to the Recharge Speed Penalty debuff, but the debuff icon still appears when I use Zharloth.

Bug #2 (damage inconsistency):
I’ve posted screenshots of my Felicity and Errich from my Vortex team. As you can see, Felicity has 1,000+ more DEF than Errich and 23,000+ more HP, yet she dies before Errich every single time. (She even self-heals via Tunnel King’s Legacy: Schadenfreude, while Errich has no lifesteal at all.)
I tested this 30+ times, and only once did Errich die before Felicity. I checked the DEF Penalty debuffs as well, and even when Errich has the DEF Penalty while Felicity does not, she still takes much more damage from the boss’s skills than Errich does.
I’m not sure whether Felicity is taking too much damage or Errich too little, but something is off with these numbers. It feels like Felicity’s defensive stats aren’t being factored in when her incoming damage is calculated. Or do all Vortex attacks scale with my heroes’ HP? Even then, it’s strange, since she takes way more damage—even when their stats (HP and DEF) are exactly the same.

Notes:

I only used screenshots where both heroes either have no shield or both have a shield, so this shouldn’t be related to Adolphus’s Aurelium Vest.

In the screenshots, Felicity is always on the far right and Errich is second from the left. Felicity takes nearly double (sometimes triple) the damage Errich takes, even though her defensive stats are significantly higher.

When I give them the same defensive stats, Felicity takes roughly 3–4× more damage than Errich.

Same Problem (2nd one) here. more affinity points i put into dmg reduction but my team cant survive more then 6-8min most of the time. And 99% its felicity that dies first. Even with over 3k def and 65k hp shes the one dies first (dont takes the hit)

A week ago, it was no Problem to survive 8-10 min

I am getting the same problem in both, my Flora team and my Dauntless team. Ivellios is by far the squishiest, but somehow Tharivol dies first although he as 20k HP more and 700 more def than Ivelios.

Thanks for the response, but lots of people are reporting this incorrect damage calculation. At the start of the fight, everything works as expected: heroes with weaker defensive stats take more damage than the stronger ones. However, after the battle runs for a few minutes, this suddenly changes. Felicity (who has much stronger defensive stats) starts taking significantly more damage than weaker heroes (e.g. Errich).

It might be related to the stacks the boss gains over time — around 40 stacks is when the damage calculation starts becoming inconsistent, and the inconsistency grows the more stacks the boss accumulates.

So it looks like the calculation is correct in the beginning but shifts incorrectly later on.

Could you please take another detailed look at this? It really seems like there’s still something wrong with the damage calculation.

terrible support work, the photo shows everything clearly. And this problem has been going on for a month, that the hero with the highest defense takes more damage than others. But the answer kills...

Seems to have been fixed. Now we'll get complaints like Flora dies too quickly unlike previously lol.

Something I noticed in the blurb was that the boss targets hero’s with Def Penalty 1 but in Felicity’s blurb it says that she has Defence Penalty but no mention of which, is this the oversight by the Devs??

I think I might have accidentally figured this out. It isn't a bug and it has to do with the Personal Ward Adolphus talent. Before my previous comment claiming it has been fixed, my talent tree was the third one because I was testing something out for the continental challenges. I forgot to switch it back to the first talent tree for vortex. At that time, Flora and Caspar would die too quickly. I was baffled and thought they probably fixed something resulting into this. I figured it out a day later that I forgot to switch back the talent tree.

The talent and passive together means the lowest HP hero would get shield+heal+shield every time adolphus ults. This is the reason why the squishiest somehow survives easily every time. Felicity and Errich rarely gets the double treatment unless the adolphus's battle skill was used on them.

You guys can try switching the talent tree too to test it out.

Ihuicatl has personal ward too. Have you tried switching the talents?

I’ve just tried test running you suggestion to change Adolphus’ talents to the middle and then to the bottom row, in both cases the healing provided by Adolphus has been drastically reduced, and the team die far quicker!

Instead of scores in the region of 900mil they were getting only 350mil with an otherwise unchanged setup!! 😳

Well this still does not explain the dmg inconsistency. It helps to survive, yes. But it still does not explain why felicity gets just so much more dmg from hits, all the attached Screenshots show that she has the highest dmg numbers what makes no sense if she has higher DEF than all backline Heroes the team :/

@coarse plank Definitely something weird going on. I had to trim the video because it would not fit. But my i5 Felicity has less HP than Adolphus but is still the one that gets hit by the boss's 2nd ability and takes more damage than the rest of the team per hit. This fight was between 6PM CST in the US and 7PM CST.
