Have the same problem, I started playing yesterday but sadly I don't remember the character name or have made a purchase to be able to locate the character... someone in s1-chat mentioned their character disappeared today.

I already did, created an account on my MacBook, the next morning when I logged in the account was gone. I contacted customer service and they could not see the account. I used only 1 device to play this game.

No point continuing via customer service as they can't find my account, at the end I just started a new character as I wasn't in too far into the game but still wasted 4-5 hours to catch up to where I was before.

I showed proof that I had connected my Google account to the game the day before it was gone but I find it odd that you're going the route of recovering the account rather than investigating how this happened as clearly, with a few reports in discord, something went wrong on your end that resulted in people losing the accounts.
