If a new player were to join, they will always be behind, and imagine if that gap is 10 years. This will turn off many new players.

Imagine a new player seeing content for season 20 on social media, then learning they need to go through 19 seasons to catcup.

There is nothing wrong with putting everybody on the same season. Just split us into different servers based on player power.

And New players can join New player servers. Or, even be able to join advanced servers through invite. Perhaps some players have the money to invest. PERHAPS, give new players a juicy starter pack.

But the message is, just put everybody on the same season.

But putting a new player with s4 gives them huge disadvantage on competing unless the throw a fortune into the game and then they may still be behind

My thoughts on this:

  1. Stop creating new servers as of right now.
  2. Every season currently running, let it ride out until it's due date but don't start a new season until every current season has ended.
  3. Merge EVERYONE into the next season.
4 i. Compensate players generously for having to skip seasons/having to wait a long time once their season ended.
4 ii. Compensation needs to be VERY generous, ie: at least 100 Heliolite dice for every player effected and an additional 100 dice for every season a player was forced to skip.
Example: Player X was in season 4, they get 100 dice
Player Y was in season 2, they get 100 dice + 200 for skipping season 3 and 4
  4. Season 5 begins and EVERY current player is now in it together. All reward brackets are widened fairly, ie: Rank 21-50 becomes Rank 21-150. Rank 51-100 becomes Rank 151-450 etc
    note: Rank 1, 2, 3, 4-10, 11-20, top 10%, top 20%, top 50%, top 75% and top 95% stay the same.
  5. Any new players play a "virtual" Season 1 with the current season 1 intro missions etc so they are rewarded with extra dice as a catch up mechanic. After that, they are thrown into the live game with everyone else.
  6. New players should have a grace period in their first "live season" where Seasonal banners are accessible to them.

So those in s4 gotta wait for s1 to catch up ? That be a long time

Maybe the purpose of recycling season is to merge ppl in same season

But how many wanna do s4 for 4 times for everyone to catch up

I'm in season 4 right now. my proposal is that once my season 4 ends, season 5 doesn't open until everyone else currently playing finishes THEIR season. Once everyone has come to the end of their seasons, we all go into season 5 together ... players in s1 don't play season 2, 3, then 4. they skip them and get 400 dice as compensation.

that compensation of skippking seasons you say, what it gonna give someone fresh? A bunch of dices, f.e as you said in point 5. f.e. player from season 1 should get 400 dices on starting season. That's amount that they should not get becouse they didn't participate in game in 3 seasons x3 months.
That would be really too good rewards for them to pull heroes strong enought on new season.

#

Even I would really start season 1 just to see what that pull of 400 dices would give me on new account 🙂

#

= what I mean, it's not good solution, could focus bots arrive just to get lucky account

A fresh player wouldn't be skipping seasons, they'd just play the season 1 then get thrown into the deep end with us

#

The only players compensated will be the ones already playing right now

While not applicable to DH I'm quite liking the approach of Once Human (a non-gacha game) to seasons.

Upon ending one you could sign up to different scenarios/seasons including your current one.
For example I played a normal difficulty pve scenario. Upon ending a season I was able to choose between the same scenario or a pvp one, within each of those I had a normal and hard version and within those I had 2 versions with different season modifiers that benefited build archetypes (think Rally,Poison, etc).

As such I could tailor exactly what to expect from my next season.
Not sure how that would apply to a gacha game that depends on new heroes for income and having OP newer heroes in older seasons would be imbalanced but maybe locking them out if from a future season would work.

And then if players would like to farm s1 for all heroes without worrying about power creep they could stay there and just buy helio for s1 heroes.

Eh, just throwing my 2 cents into the hat of ideas 😛
