#Defense = % damage reduction?

I can't say for sure, but I don't think defense has any percentage damage reduction value associated with it, but rather it depends on the calculation of "Rival Attack VS Self Defense".
Usually, based on other games like League of Legends, the defense converts to some damage reduction percent
I don't think that's the case here, but I may be wrong.
the details on this Attribute description would reveal the amount of reduction. Just to think about: 4000 ATK vs 4000 DEF dont results in 00 damage.
I'm not saying that's the formula. It's more that I think the damage reduction associated with defense depends more on the opponent's attack than on the defense itself. I don't think it has any associated value on its own.
But wow, what we can say are our guesses, until it is confirmed by someone who knows the formula, it is going around in circles.

Ya, because those stats do not depend at all on any rival statistics.
These info and calculations are more privy to devs & bigwigs on a need to know. Some game like bloodline lithas are totally hiding any information about game mechanics

No, it is not privy to devs, as you can see in the screen shot above, we are just missing Defense infos
And there is no reason to be secret, the player is the main one who need to know what your gears and stuffs are increasing to your hero
How you will decide if you want 3k, 4k or 5k Defense? if you dont even know what this difference means

But doesn't it also matter how more defence penalty you have on character to know what it reduces
I don't know if I understand what you meant. Yes, defense penalty will influence the final damage
And defensr buff so its kinda hard to get an accurate stat pn how much defence reduce incoming dmg
Defense Penalty I = 30% def reduction (4000 drops to 2800)
Defense Penalty II = 50% def reduction (4000 drops to 2000)
It is not that hard.
The point here is that I would like the amount of damage reduction revealed in the description like others are
