Add such feature to sort gear by the given stat, set, and the type automatically to reduce the time on placing it one by one would be really helpful. In current farming style, players will have a tons of gear later on the game to find the best stat. When it comes to setting it manually will take a lot of efforts, this will make it too tiring and I believed that also not good for game because player will eventually just burned out.

a big mechanic in these games is team building which includes gearing, i think taking that away would take away too much of the strategy tbh, you can save gear sets though. DPS, Debuffers, Tank etc to make it easier

It just optional, people can choose to do it manually for perfect tuning.
I don't think this feature would take away the fun of team building, instead it help us to building more team efficiently and less efforts. The strategy of team building and gearing is still up to the players.
