I’m currently in S2 but read the producer’s letter and I’m excited about the changes coming in S3 and S4. Something I’ve been mulling around though is a way to maybe help with the gear reset. Honestly that has been the biggest pain point for me in the game so far. I have great units and got somewhat decent gear by the end of the game in S1 to help me with the end game content. Obviously going into S2 that was all reset and back to the grindstone we go. I’ve been grinding Grave or Venom 7 for almost a week straight now, not counting all the times before when I only ignored venom for whatever challenge the game ran at the time (Ace challenger, etc.) and I’m just now getting passable gear. Now for the suggestion:

Instead of resetting gear completely could it be locked out? Similar to how certain stages (Eye of Thermes, Field of burrows, etc) were locked out until you hit a certain adventure level? This time though for the gear let the criteria be unlocking the equipment when you 1) can forge the equipment and 2) beat the stage in which you get the ore to forge the equipment. Any gear that doesn’t get carried over (like troll gear from S1 to S2) can either be sold for gold or deconstructed into ore at beginning of reset. This would help with the grind tremendously, and still give players the incentive to grind the dungeons for the new sets plus the mythic sets coming. The block would keep players from being OP but still help give F2P players a better opportunity to succeed at more and game content like pillar or getting ranks in vortex.

You could potentially do this with certain characters that are at level 100, but still give the opportunity to reset characters at the beginning of the season, if a player wants to reuse a certain team to clear PVE content. And these characters would again unlock with increased adventure level. I know the announcement stated some changes to amount of exp needed to max out characters, but wanted to throw this option out there as well.

i feel like i have to disagree with this suggestion. If this really happens, then you might as well request for a removal of the seasonal mechanic.

Unfortunately, the seasonal mechanic is part of what makes this game unique and I would very much prefer it remain.

If the problem is more on the grind/getting gears, then i would rather have a suggestion that cope with that. eg. mamba's post, void's post

Sadly your suggestion just bricks the system and causes more problems than it solves balance wise, it would be tremendously unbalanced and there is no seasonal game that ever lets you keep ANY gear , ANY EXP , ANY currency in the industry that's what makes seasonal games unique, but adding multiple options to make the grind more enjoyable is the key.

Thanks for the feedback, I’ve never played a game with seasonal resets like this before, and I do like how it’s resembling starting a new campaign in D&D. I’ll look into these other posts too and see what suggestions they have
