#Detailed mechanics please!

It's probably not in the devs worries, but if any dev is in this discord, or anyone with access to them are, please consider making an official post on the dragonheir website detailing how the basic character mechanics work!
For example:

  • how is damage calculated?
  • how much defense is worth as a base stat (it would be explained by how damage is calculated)?
  • How Accuracy and Resistance interact to modify the % of success in aplying debuff/control effects?

Many great old games that are played till today are clear about the basic mechanics of the game, and it would be great for those players like me that enjoy math and optmizing each character to its full potential S2

It is pretty clear though… have you clicked the “details” button in a skill to see the multipliers?

We simply dont know the defense of the enemy, but logically it is going to be some attack vs defense and then damage multipliers in a formula… like every game.

Same for accuracy and resist. Accuracy - resist = success, with a 3% rng rate to fail. It is all pretty clear actually…

#

Most games DONT give you exact formulae; the player base figured them out

#

In the case of DH the devs do you the favor of giving you target floors for accuracy and resistance before each battle, and you can see the hp of bosses. For defense and attack, “more is better” is simple enough.

definitely so

# broken oyster definitely so

Anyway, I don't really understand why that website isn't more accessible. I think it would help a lot to avoid unnecessary doubts and would alleviate the burden on mods in Suggestions and Bugs...

Wish there was info on how def works

We literally only dont know how defense reduces damage and thats it. Is it a scaling damage reduction or some other formula? But who actually cares to that detail when an average defense for a tank is ~4000

#

Just get that defense and you are fine. Most of the time the defense number affects things like healing, shield strength or damage the tank is also doing so it is a requirement for other skills anyway; there is no reason to nitpick exact defense based on a damage reduction diminishing returns in that case because you are getting value for other reasons.

#

Dps you want like 1500 defense for survivability, dont need more most of the time

#

To worry over that one detail as to how defense reduces damage as an issue to complain about seems unnecessary…

#

If you are dying, increase defense. If you arent, dont. It is either target attack vs your defense and/or it is defense as a scalable diminishing returns damage reduction. Im not building 4k defense dps… i build 1500-2k defense dps with high attack and damage numbers… what does it change to know how defense works?

"don't judge what matter to others. You are not even a game developer to be in a position to judge how other think and what they care about

Its not being about noob or not. its about min-maxing. While there are obvious choices of going pure def for most tanks (with def scaling off skills), there are also tanks that scale off hp/atk (rare cases enlightenment if you know who i mean).

For these kinds of tanks, we will be able to figure out mathematically if we shd still go 4k def, or try to go more hp.
