#Remove Chef Hat Healing Buff

Currently, in a lot of end game set-ups, its almost mandatory to have chefs hat.
a no level requirement, no stats, non-combat item.
this leaves almost all end game head gear, that has viable stats and requires actually playing the game to obtain and use, on the edge of obscurity and nearly obsolete.

I suggest we remove Chef Hat healing buff so that players have to wear appropriate gear matching the defense of what theyre fighting, instead of cheasing 20% increased healing from food.

Agree that it feels bad to take the slot of actual combat-intended headwear. However, it also seems that since many think the 20% buff is better than other gear, it would be a shame to just remove it.

Alternatively, it could be nice to see the chef's hat (or just it's buff) transitioned to a charm or something that could be equipped in an additional loadout slot. The quiver could then use that same new slot so it can be equipped on top of a cape and potentially other items like the artisan's boots, etc.

But why it’s not mandatory you don’t have to use it in golem (just saves food cost) only thing it’s really good at is bmm

#

Other than that I’m struggling to see where a lot of end game set ups is?

Extermination ur using bm helm, xp ur using warrior, naga or drake

From what I understand this is still a trade-off that people must make like any other piece of gear in the game, in this case its higher defense/survivability in exchange for slower kills or xp/hr. The only two chef hat use cases I've really seen are for Golem or BMM raids, although it does feel like chef hat is almost mandatory in BMM if you want to reach higher waves.

From my experience with lower tier gear and not being maxed it is mandatory for all aspects of combat otherwise you risk dying offline. The trade-off for not wearing it is that you will die.

i mean, i get that a lot of meta slaves are going to impulsively downvote at the idea of having to think about their gear instead of just slapping on 1 piece of gear that insta=negates any defense at all.
its just plain silly that a level nothing, requirements nothing hat is BIS defense by means of negating defense through gross over healing.

I get what you're saying, but I also feel like you're glazing over a few of the 'soft' requirements to get & use the chef's hat. Its still gated behind a 0.02% rare drop from the Lair of Beasts (so there are already a set of requirements for ironman accounts to obtain the item at the very least), it does not 'completely negate defense' unless you have an infinite amount of food and even then you can get max hit multiple times if you are unlucky and die, and the cost of eating that much food to out-heal the damage is not zero - especially for ironmen.

If you need to rely on a chef's hat to survive because that is the only way to maintain the hp boost and keep you alive, chances are you are eating away any potential profits you would make obtaining gold anyways.

I'm not strongly in the pro-chef hat camp or the anti-chef hat camp but it does feel a bit lazy to simply remove it from the game in my opinion.

Maybe a level requirement or rebalance is needed instead?

I wouldn’t say it even needs a rebalance it’s finally found its niche and helps with the game having a variety of useful items I don’t see why one helmet has to fit all uses, would say it’s weird that it didn’t have a lvl requirement tho

Someone disagrees with me = meta slave 💀

Agreed to get rid of the chef hat sus but only because we need to use it for later cooking skilling gear 👀, I could just make a new hat that would take over the stats of the current chef hat, maybe with some adjustments so both the meta slaves and Viper slaves will be happy sus

non combat item?

I wouldn’t mind repurposing the current design for skilling gear and having a new hat with the current chef hat buff and added stats might be too op tho xD

Thats fair, ironman was just an example where it isn't easy to get a chef hat but I wanted to explain that there are still valid tradeoffs to wearing one in both game modes
